Throughout the story, the character constantly reminds herself to do things a certain way because of her mothers continious remindings. When a parent constantly pesters a kid on their expectations, a child is kind of destined to grow tired of them. A parents can constantly demand things done from their child because they intend to raise their kids right. Children have the choice of listening to their parents teachings or rebelling because of possible stressful situations. In this case, the character from, "Girl", is constantly reminded to do things a certain way or else she will be "the slut she is so bent on becoming", and she seems to follow what she is taught, but not everyone would react the same way. Some kids are not as good listners as the character from, "Girl".
