Because parents are the ones that teach children how to truly behave, children owe their parents for all of the advice that parents offer. In the poem entitled "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid, Kincaid writes, "this is how you sweep a whole house; this is how you sweep a yard; this is how you smile to someone you don’t like too much." This is an example of how a parent offers a child advise for how to behave at home and around others. The poem is proof that parents, regardless of what we wish to believe, are always trying to do what they think is best for their children, even if the child views it as incorrect.

When people fall in love , they should feel happy, safe, and comfortable with the person they want to be with . In the poem " O.C.D " by Neil Hilborn he states , " She loved that I had to kiss her goodbye sixteen times or twenty four times if it was Wednesday ". This means that even though he was a bit strange, he still felt comfortable with her like when he was with her he could act like himself . He was very happy being with someone he loved and cared about . Despite his disabilities , he found his true love . He even grew an obssesion with her. Once his girlfriend left him he was upset and sad. Even though she did that to him he still had hope that she'll come back . In the article it said someting like when he would turn on and off the lights constantly . Maybe he decided to leave the lights on and the door unlocked , in case she came back . This person still believed that his true love was going to come back . Anyone can easily fall in love with a person they feel a strong connection with but this doesnt always mean it will last forever .

When people fall in love, they always think it will last forever. Even though that may not be the case for some people, they often hope they have found their soulmate. In the poem "O.C.D" by Neil Hilborn, the author states "She told me that she shouldn't have let me get so attached to her, that this whole thing was a mistake, but...How can it be a mistake that I don't have to wash my hands after I touched her? Love is not a mistake. and it's killing me that she can run away from this and I just can't." This means that when the author's girlfriend told him she didn't feel the same way about him as she once did, he could not understand because from what he understood about love, love can't just fade away, it is meant to last forever. This proves that when people seek love, their mind goes to the word forever, they often tend to look for that forever feeling. Although, that might not have been the case for the author, Neil Hilborn' girlfriend, it was the case for Neil Hilborn and it could just as easily be the case for millions of people in the world seeking for love.

When people keep love alive, they want a relationship that can last long with happiness. In the Poem"OCD" by Neil Hilborn. Hilborn writes"Love is not a mistake". This means, that, love could last long with happiness and love could never end if its true love. Although love is a strong decision to make in your life. Neil said "I leave the door open unlocked and i leave the lights on". The reason he had said that is because he had hoped that she came back. Neil would lock the door eighteen times, so that she could be safe with him. There are many people that fall in love and they even get married. This proves that true love is the best way to show the person you love with love and always being with them for the rest of their lifes. There are people that want to be with someone to be with for the rest of there lifes. To sum this up, i believe that people keep love alive, is by having a long lasting relationship and also a happy one too.

When people fall in love, they're usually seeking happiness, care, and compassion, because people want to feel like they matter to someone and for someone to matter to them; Someone to make them feel like they're truly living. The poem "O.C.D." by Neil Hilborn writes, "How can it be a mistake that I don't have to wash my hands after I touched her? Love is not a mistake and it's killing me that she can run away from this and I just can't..." This quote shows the way that he was so attached to this girl and so crazily in love with her, that he believed their love wasn't a mistake, that it was supposed to last forever. People want the kind of love that comsumes them, and this is shown when the text "O.C.D." by Neil Hilborn states, "...I can't go out and find someone new because I always think of her." Love can take over people's actions, thoughts, and ideas. Love is so powerful, it can change everything about a person, and a lot of the time, that's what people want - Someone who gives them care, compassion, attention, and someone to make them feel beyond what they once thought was humanly possible.

When parents have high expectations for their children, a child grows up thinking they shouldn't settle for simple work, but for better work. Because of this, they either grow up to be successful or they grow up stressed and angry at their parents for demanding so much. Line number 7 from, "Girl", by Jamaica Kincaid says, "On Sundays try to walk like a lady and not like the slut you are so bent on becoming." Throughout the story, the character constantly reminds herself to do things a certain way because of her mothers continious remindings. When a parent constantly pesters a kid on their expectations, a child is kind of destined to grow tired of them. A parents can constantly demand things done from their child because they intend to raise their kids right. Children have the choice of listening to their parents teachings or rebelling because of possible stressful situations. In this case, the character from, "Girl", is constantly reminded to do things a certain way or else she will be "the slut she is so bent on becoming", and she seems to follow what she is taught, but not everyone would react the same way. Some kids are not as good listners as the character from, "Girl". I believe a child can eventually get annoyed at at a parents teachings, or they can actually take a parent's expectations into consideration.

When parents have high expectations for their children, it's both a good and bad thing. They expect their child to get good grades, clean, do their homework, etc. Parents expect so much from their childrens. And with all those expectations the child decides not to do them. In "Girl" by Jamaica Kindcaid she writes "wash the white clothes on Monday and put them on the stone heap; this is how to sew on a button; this is how you iron your father's khaki shirt so that is doesn't have a crease; this is how you sweep a corner." This proves that girls and others are expected to do so many things. Parents have so many expectations for their children like cleaning, cooking, iron, sweep etc. The more children expectaions parents have for their child, the more the child will become rebelious and won't do the expectations.

Children owe their parents the support their parents gave them when they were young. According to the "Excerpt from the Glass Castle", a memoir by Jeanette Walls, she writes, "Mom pointed her chopsticks at me. "You see?" she said. "Right there. That's exactly what I'm saying. You're way too easily embarrassed. Your father and I are who we are. Accept it." Walls wanted to support her parents by helping them financially, but all Walls' mom wanted was for Jeanette to accept her lifestyle. Therefore, Walls had to accept the fact that her parents wanted to live the way they chose, and she had to show her support. People could learn how to support their parents with the experience Jeanette had with her mom and dad being homeless.

When people are mostly looking for loyalty and hostly in Love. Which is one hostly and know each other with Love.

When parents have high expectations for their children, children began to believe their parents don't trust them enough because of the so many rules they have on them. In "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid,Kincaid writes, "; this is how you set a table for breakfast; this is how to behave in the presence of men who don't know you very well, and this way they won't recognize immediately the slut I have warned you against becoming..". This means that the mother doesn't trust her daughterto let her be herself without using the excuse of her becoming a "slut". This proves that when parents have high expectations for their children, children realize or start to think of ideas why their parents set so many rules may be because parents don't trust their children. This idea may affect children, they can easily turn rebelious because of this which is why "high expectations" should be taken seriously, to start thinking of consequences. Another example of high expectations, having a negative effect is when the text includes "; this is how to make a good medicine to throw away a child before it even becomes a child.."A parent shouldn't make a comment like this because it can discourage just like expectations can. Even worse, a rule. They should trust their children when it comes to that topic in particular. Little things/comments like these are what drives kids to turn rebelious especially when children are with high expectations.

When parents have high expectations for their children, their children become distant, as well as discouraged if they aren't able to follow through completely. In "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid, Kincaid writes, "... don't squat down to play marbles- you're not a boy you know..." In other words, the mother is placing high expectations to everything, including minor details. In this specific quote, she is depriving her child from a common enjoyable activity because she's " not a boy". This shows that if a child is held to high expectations, and they don't follow every rule as it's set, they can feel as if they failed their parents. This also goes along with parents not allowing children to explore the passions they can possibly have, because parents limit the liberties of their children when they set these high expectations. The opposing argument may state, that when parents hold their children to high expectations, it's more likely those children are the ones who succeed. However, the actuality of success depends on the person persuing a specific goal of their own, and whether or not they achieve it. The pressure that is placed on a child for the ideal "success" the parent has for their child, can distort the relationship beteen them because it places the child in a dilemma of following the written destiny thier parents have for them, or following what their own beliefs are. Therefore, when parents have high expectations for their children, their children become discouraged- if they aren't able to follow through entirely- and their relationship can become more distant.

This means that she loved him for who he was. This proves that people seek love for happiness because it shows that when the speaker was with her, he was truly happy. In the reading Girl by Jamaica Kincaid,it says " Wash the white clothes on Monday put them on the stone heap; wash the color clothes on Tuesday and put them on the clothesline to dry..." This means that girls are expected to do things like that, and thats where they're and should be placed. This proves that people have certain expectations for girls. Girls are told that they shouldn't do certain things. For example, it also says "... dont squat down to play marbles-you are not a boys..." What i initially think this means is that girls shouldn't be able to and aren't capable of doing what boys do just because we're girls. There is a typical stereotype that just because we're girls,we should be in the kitchen or doing the dirty work, when every individual deserves and should be able to do their own thing.

This explains that women are meant to do housework and clean on a daily basis. This proves that parents expectations are rather high that make their children curious about things that are dangerous.

What people seek out of love is affection because it gives them comfort. In O.C.D by Niel hilborn, HIlborn writes "And she was the first beautiful thing I ever got stuck on". This quote shows someone in a relationship and comterable. When people are in a relationship, just like Neil Hilborn, people are looking for affection and comfort from other people.

The parents that have high expectations for their children has a positive impact like being cautious and respect places but a bit of a negative like not following traditional rules and be isolated from specific people. In "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid, Kincaid wrote, "Don't sing benna in sunday school; you musn't speak to wharf-rat boys, not even to give directions". This mean that you could still be in places but restricted to a few rules and people. This proves that people are also narrow-minded as they treat them to do specific things and stay out what seems bad to a parent's perspective. Another thing Kincaid wrote,"this is how you sweep a corner; this is how you sweep a whole house; this is how you sweep a yard ". This means they're also neat and this is more of a positive version of handling specific tasks.

When people seek pout Love, they are looking for loyal and honesty. In the poem "OCD" by Neil Hilborn,Hilborn writes"I can't- I can't go out and find someone new because I always think of her."This means that he wants to stay loyal to her and not find some one new.

That she doesn't like her mom because she is homeless, lower class than her, and that she doesn't want to get seen with her mom.I slid down in the seat and asked the driver to turn around and take me home to park Avenue. That this is showing that she is feeling sad about her mom because she left her instayed of sayying hi to her or something. That why she will be scared of being seen with her mom it not her fault that she has to live like that and she is embarrassed of her mom.
