I believe that states should have a partial say in the way guns laws are presented, but only following decisions made by the federal govt on overall laws regarding gun purchase etc, then it can be on a state by state basis depending on citizens needs/etc

I think excessive gun laws make neighborhoods more safe because without a gun, private citizens can't do as much damage. I believe that some people can use guns to protect themselves but if others don't have guns I don't think there is as much of a need to protect oneself.

People who want guns should have legitimate reason for concern of safety. Otherwise owning such weapon seems unnecessary.

I would feel more safe with a fire arm because assuming everyone else owns one I would be defenseless in the case of a home invasion if I didn't have one.

I believe gun laws generally make neighborhoods more safe, because on a state by state scale, and generally proven, more gun laws lead to less gun deaths per capita, so more gun laws would rarely ever be a bad thing in my opinion.

As a woman, I would feel much safer living with a gun knowing that I would be better able to protect myself against an intruder (a man). But, looser gun laws mean that others also have access to firearms, which is undesirable.

I think that the way people use or the reason why people have guns is was makes it safe or not safe. I do think that sometimes guns makes things more dangerous than safe because not everyone has guns for the right reasons.

I think that there needs to be more prerequisites to buying a gun such as a mental health scan or a higher age restriction that would make the public safety concerns lessen but also allow people to have guns.

While my intitial reaction to this question would be that having a gun would make me feel safer in a dangerous area, I feel like at the same time it would also make me feel unsafe and anxious that the gun can accidentally get into the wrong hands and escalate a situation making it more dangerous.

I think guns are necessary for self defense, like just keeping one or two in the home for safety reasons, especially because they're relatively easy to obtain by criminals.

I think more gun laws would make neighborhoods more safe. More regulations about storing guns in safe places makes it more difficult for children to access them, and for accidents to happen.

If I were to live in a dangerous area I would feel much safer if I knew I had a firearm, but not so safe about the other people in the neighborhood with weapons

The scope of gun laws should only restrict those who are not mentally capable of using a gun, or someone legally incapable. Gun laws also should restrict unregistered firearms however, it should not restrict those who are fully capable of understanding what they hold and are not mentally unstable.

people should have very reasonable/valid reasons for owning a gun. Although there is a background check, maybe confirming the reasons people want a gun should also be checked and considered.

I believe that the process for purchasing a gun should be more regulated. More restrictions and background checks help prevent some bad actor from purchasing a firearm.
