         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><pre>The use of video is certainly very important to make more complete and effective observation. In particular, the video can capture attitudes and behaviors that escape simple visual observation. However, the video may have the risk of limiting too much observation of particulars by losing the more general context in which the didactic action takes place. For this reason it is important to use the video together with traditional free visual observation. I use both methodologies and I can say that, in this way, I can have a more complete and effective observation. My mentee feels comfortable and has the chance to observe any mistakes or strengths as students are more attentive to their way of doing and following the lessons.</pre><div><br></div>]]></description>

I think it is important to agree with mentee a reason why to use video recording, for which aim and when, in a lesson. There are pros and cons : when you know you are recorded perhaps your behavior is less natural and students as well are less natural or distracted by it. În ce priveşte utilizarea acestei metode la observarea unei lecţii ţinute de un professor nou începător nu mi se pare o idée bună pentru că încalcă mai multe principii deontologice, stresează inutil profesorul începător, alterează comportamentul acestuia şi a clasei de elevi şi nu cred că rezultatele sunt relevante, în plus s-ar putea ca să nu surprindă esenţialul. &nbsp;</div><div>Using videos to prepare lessons to get a self-correcting loophole seems an interesting idea worth considering and trying. Regarding the use of this method in observing a lesson by a new beginner professor, I do not find it a good idea because it violates several ethical principles, unnecessarily stresses the beginner teacher, alters its behavior and the class of students, and I do not think the results are Relevant, in addition it may not surprise the essence.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I have used several times video recordings for mentoring a mentee or myself (because I mentor myself a lot). For my activity as a teacher and as a mentor it was a very useful experience watching the video recordings. I have noticed some aspects I would have wanted to change in my teaching. My mentee had the chance to observe himself/herself and we have some very constructive debriefings after we watched the video, together. I always try to be positive, to let the mentee to draw the conclusions and to speak about his/her work.&nbsp; I try never being judgmental, I try to guide. An aspect to be considered: until the mentor and the mentee will have been got used with the video recordings, we have to consider the psychological aspects of being recorded during an activity. We may have emotions or we may seem to be fake.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

In spite I think it´s very important using this technology , it doesn´t work if coach and coachee (mentor and mentee) did n´t talk previously what are the points to see in video.&nbsp; As Rachel said, we can´t see in video everything what is going on in a lesson observation.&nbsp; It´s necessary select&nbsp; by both the goals: the students´behavors? ! Or the student´s understanding matter?! Or which point the teacher´s strategy works in the class?! I think if I watched my lesson by video I would see things that I won´t in the real lesson, and maybe I would see some mistakes that I didn´t become in the real lesson. Sometimes I use video with my pupils, because they need make feedback to improve their learning. Sometimes I use it to praise good actions or good posture.<br><br></div>]]></description>

It helps focus on strengths and weaknesses of the teaching afterwards, discussing them and find ways to improve it. As my sister says (she uses the recordings to discuss with students at the university while they practise in a microteaching environment), the mentee has the chance to see himself teaching and identify things that went wrong, observe himself and then discuss with the mentee about what had happened and what to improve. Decrease consumer spending - for the benefit of chat and messenger. Although very different media, however, TV, play station and internet, are all mediated by a screen and the main cognitive activity they require is to look and watch. Videos in my teaching play a major role and have many advantages but also many critical issues. Realizing videos quickly and without having to become experienced operators and editors is therefore a fundamental requirement for teachers and students. For this use, the screencast technique, which makes it easy to make educational videos, recording what's on our PC screen and our voice commentary. At the end of the school year, my second high school students are completing an "Erasmus project", using this technique.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As Rachel said it is important to make the use of video a routine as it can be really daunting in the first place. I have often shown to my mentees videos of peers as an analytical tool of what can be done or not and they loved it is a great way of showing plenty of details we don't think about or see when starting teaching. I am going to use video in my mentoring practice more now as it is so easy nowadays and the young teachers are more familiar with coping with their image reflection, but again it always comes down to trust and you can't force someone to do it, some people may need more time to accept the challenge.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Although I do not have any experience with video mentoring, I do agree that it can be a very useful tool, as watching from aside at yourself, you can simply find your bigger or smaller mistakes both in the behaviour and the steps of teaching. The example, given by Rachel about the unconscious repetition of unnecessary words, is a very common flaw of inexperienced teachers that can spoil the impression of the whole process of teaching.&nbsp;<br>On the other hand, video can help the mentor analyse in depth the   observed lesson.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

It works and if it works for students it shoould also work for teacher students.<br><strong>What is important is to share this practice with the mentee in advance</strong>. But last school Year, I wanted to make a video of my pupils while their exposition of Egyptian times. I planned a self evaluation schedule they have to use to take notes about how they perform, how they move their body and they use their Language and above all, in which way they react to the mates listening to them, how they took care of their Learning needs during the exposition and the discussion. It was a powerful tool of awareness for them, because they could see themselves with critical perspective and understand what they could do to change some way of interact and to show themselves s a speaker.<br><br></div>]]></description>

We will probably be more frank and sincere because we are not face to face with the person.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I've only had little experience about having my own lesson being recorded, however, I consider video recordings as a very helpful and authentic tool to be able to review a lesson and a lot of things which might otherwise go unnoticed. The few times I've seen recordings of meetings, presentations or lessons which I had carried out, were indeed very effective as I was able to understand what it felt like being a student or part of the audience, observing me. I was able to observe my own presentation skills and to appreciate the different variations in tone, questioning and listening which takes place when a teacher is carefully leading the learning of a group of students. I think it is important to use the video routinely as suggested in this course, so that the video does not hinder the usual flow of the lesson, but captures the real dynamics of the learning process. Mentors could have a strategic role in capturing important aspects of lessons and focus on areas which are either strengths or which could provide a backdrop for further discussions, development or improvement. Mentors could also be trained to use various technological tools to be able to process videos and use them for professional development.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When I was teaching Italian in an American University during my PhD I was regularly video-recorded by the departmental supervisor and I found a very useful practice as I had the opportunity to watch myself more than once. Moreover, the supervisor gave me a form that I had to fill with comments and reflections about my teaching. The form was very helpful has it offered me the opportunity to focus better in what I had to analyze and comment. After filling the form I had an appointment with the supervisor and we discussed about my and her comments and highlighted the things I had to improve or change in my approach. It is a bit a harder in Italy to video-record a lesson because of privacy rules on students, but if the parents sign a form the students can be recorded. Moreover, the recording should be done from the end of the classroom so that the faces of the students is not visible.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

I could notice and realise many aspects of the lesson I wouldn't have otherwise. I think this is the greatest advantage of it: you can rewind it as many times as you want/ need and analyse different aspects which can sometimes be overlooked by both mentor and the mentee in order to improve them.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Katia The video is an opportunity for me to see my self in practise. I have make videos of my self because I wanted to see my way of teaching, but also the students way of responding and their engagement during the lesson. I usually record one hole lesson, mostly because I do not want to brake the lesson to stop the recording. The good think to have a video observations is that I can see an obvious things, I can replay different moments in case I want to see it again, I can looked details on &amp; on again, I can see what I make good and when the students are responding well on my questions and are more engaged with the lesson, so I may recreate the situation in the future</title>

I have a video with children who play in a school. I have to observed the behavior and analyze the comunicative exchanges.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I have used a video after asking my mentee’s permission, but not what parts I should focus on for it was more practical to set it up on a tripod and sit at the back of the classroom to observe and take notes. It is rather hard to make video a part of our teaching mentoring routines since we need a parents’ permission to do so. It did trigger some silly waving and smiling at the camera and remarks, such as, “it is not allowed Ms..” since my students are over 15 years of age. I assured them that it showed only their back and it won’t be published. So, although it helped&nbsp; us partly with our talk, I’m a bit skeptical about using it again for if I ask the parents’ permission and one or two out of 25 won’t accept it I cannot use it.<br><br></div>]]></description>

Static life, the perspective includes more than the human eye, and very slow or very fast phenomena, inaccessible to human perception, can be seen as a very attractive film. The video is exciting, and with the evolution of technology it becomes new dimensions.<br>These are some of the arguments that make me appreciate and capitalize on the use of video in my professional activity. What does mentoring work? All of the above. In addition, the mentee can watch the video recorded by the mentor at any time. He can stop and repeat it whenever he wants. What's wrong? The direct human relationship that involves "feeling" physically, energetically the other. The mentor and mentor also exchange information on nonverbal paths. Communication through the technique means a certain degree of inaccuracy. This is ok for the two according to the specifics of each person involved.</div>]]></description>

Though I have used video recording in my classes, I have never video recorded a whole lesson so far. It would be interesting to do it, as many aspects could be more carefully observed by me and the mentee and it would bring precious proofs on how the teaching went. However, to be successful, video recording should be part of their routine, otherwise some of the students might not behave the way they usually do, as not all of them feel comfortable with being filmed.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Italy<br>Like many other colleagues I have no particular experience in using videos for mentoring&nbsp; and I’ve never used it for assessment of mentees. Nevertheless I think it could be useful to use videos for a deeper collaboration even if many of us feel uncorfortable when they know they are recorded.</div><div>I am an eTwinning ambassador of my Region in Italy and&nbsp; I often use videos&nbsp; with my students during our eTwinning projects and also in case of Erasmus+ activities. In both cases I could register&nbsp; their effectiveness&nbsp; as well as a mean to a metacognitive&nbsp; reflection about&nbsp; peformances and choices which have been done and also as big instrument to raise and sustain their motivation.&nbsp; I will try to use videos next also for mentoring &nbsp;</div>]]></description>
