What photographs do you WISH you had? What are you thinking about as next steps for this group of students? What would you plan for your instruction tomorrow?

Going forward I will be using the SNAP idea in my classroom instantly. As a kinder teacher I often have groups going with a helper or para, and can't see what the kids have done. Taking quick shots will help me see what they do without me.

I think this is a great way to show student thinking...I’d love to share this with our teachers and suggest it as one way we can look at student work together. I would have liked to also have a few notes on what the kids are saying about their work as well...like someone mentioned, unless I was there, the student might have reasoning and a structure in mind that I might otherwise miss by just looking at the photo.

I’ve taught mostly upper elementary and could rely more on written work from my students to move forward with lessons. As a 2nd grade teacher now, I sometimes feel anxious at the end of the lesson when we’ve done such great work but need to clean it all up. I will for sure start documenting my students’ thinking with pictures and love the idea about using a picture of student’s specific strategy as an intro or discussion starter for the next day’s lesson. Thank you!
