<title>Molly Frost is FED UP... Because Olivia was yelled at for wearing a tank top. Because Liza got dress coded and Molly didn&#39;t, even though they were wearing the exact same outfit. Because it&#39;s impossible to find shorts that are longer than her fingertips. Because girls&#39; bodies are not a distraction. Because middle school is hard enough. And so Molly starts a podcast where girls can tell their stories, and before long, her small rebellion swells into a revolution. Because now the girls are standing up for what&#39;s right, and they&#39;re not backing down.</title>

<title>Lauren and her best friend, Tara, have always done absolutely everything together. So when they don&#39;t have any classes together in sixth grade, it&#39;s disastrous. The solution? Trying out for the school play. Lauren, who loves to sing, wonders if maybe, just maybe, she will be the star instead of Tara this time. But when the show is cast, Lauren lands in the ensemble, while Tara scores the lead role. Their teacher explains: Lauren just doesn&#39;t look the part of the all-American girl. What audience would believe that she, half-Jewish, half-Chinese Lauren, was the &quot;every girl&quot; star from Pleasant Valley, USA? Lauren tries to support her best friend, but when she can&#39;t bring herself to sing anymore, her spot in the play and her friendship are in jeopardy.</title>

<title>David Da-Wei Horowitz has a lot on David Da-Wei Horowitz has a lot on his plate. Preparing for his upcoming bar mitzvah would be enough work even if it didn&#39;t involve trying to please his Jewish and Chinese grandmothers, who argue about everything. But David just wants everyone to be happy. That includes his friend Scott, who is determined to win their upcoming trivia tournament but doesn&#39;t like their teammate -- and David&#39;s best friend -- Hector. Scott and David begin digging a fallout shelter just in case this Cold War stuff with the Soviets turns south... but David&#39;s not so convinced he wants to spend forever in an underground bunker with Scott. Maybe it would be better if Hector and Kelli Ann came with them. But that would mean David has to figure out how to stand up for Hector and talk to Kelli Ann. Some days, surviving nuclear war feels like the least of David&#39;s problems. </title>

<title>There are ninety-six things Genesis hates about herself. She knows the exact number because she keeps a list. Like #95: Because her skin is so dark, people call her charcoal and eggplant- even her own family. And #61: Because her family is always being put out of their house, belongings laid out on the sidewalk for the world to see. How can she stand up in front of all those people with her dark, knowing even her own family thinks lesser of her because of it? Why won&#39;t the lemon or yogurt or fancy creams lighten her skin like they&#39;re supposed to? And when Genesis reaches #100 on the list of things she hates about herself, will she continue it, or can she find the strength to begin again? </title>

<title> Lily Jo McGrother, born Timothy McGrother, is a girl. But being a girl is not so easy when you look like a boy. Especially when you’re in the eighth grade. Dunkin Dorfman, birth name Norbert Dorfman, is dealing with bipolar disorder and has just moved from the New Jersey town he’s called home for the past thirteen years. This would be hard enough, but the fact that he is also hiding from a painful secret makes it even worse. One summer morning, Lily Jo McGrother meets Dunkin Dorfman, and their lives forever change.</title>

<title>Lucy Callahan was struck by lightning. She doesn&#39;t remember it, but it changed her life forever. The zap gave her genius-level math skills, and ever since, Lucy has been homeschooled. Now, at 12 years old, she&#39;s technically ready for college. She just has to pass 1 more test--middle school! Lucy&#39;s grandma insists- Go to middle school for 1 year. Make 1 friend. Join 1 activity. And read 1 book (that&#39;s not a math textbook!). Lucy&#39;s not sure what a girl who does calculus homework for fun can possibly learn in 7th grade. She has everything she needs at home, where nobody can make fun of her rigid routines or her superpowered brain, unless there&#39;s been a miscalculation? </title>

<title> This story follows Mary as the American-born daughter of Greek and French immigrants living in Detroit in the 1930s. Mary lives in a tiny apartment with her immigrant parents, her brothers and twin sister. She questions why her parents ever came to America. She yearns for true love, to own her own business, and to be an independent, modern American woman--much to the chagrin of her parents, who want her to be a &quot;good Greek girl.&quot; Mary&#39;s story is peppered with flashbacks to her parents&#39; childhoods in Greece and northern France; their stories connect with Mary as they address issues of arranged marriage, learning about independence, and yearning to grow beyond one&#39;s own culture. Mary discovers it takes courage to fight for tradition and heritage, as well as freedom, love, and equality. </title>

<title>Obie, a transgender tween, didn&#39;t think being himself would cause such a splash. He has to leave his swim coach, his pool, and his best friends. But it&#39;s time for Obie to find where he truly belongs. Obie dives into a new team, though, things are strange. Obie always felt at home in the water, but now he can&#39;t get his old coach out of his head. Even worse are the bullies that wait in the locker room and on the pool deck. Luckily, Obie has family behind him and maybe some new friends too. Obie is ready to prove he can be one of the fastest boys in the water--to his coach, his critics, and his biggest competition: himself.</title>

<title>Reha feels torn between two worlds: school-where she&#39;s the only Indian American student, and home, with her family&#39;s traditions and holidays. But Reha&#39;s parents don&#39;t understand why she&#39;s conflicted-they only notice when Reha doesn&#39;t meet their strict expectations. Reha feels disconnected from her mother, or Amma, although their names are linked-Reha means &quot;star&quot; and Punam means &quot;moon&quot;-but they are a universe apart. Then Reha finds out that her Amma is sick. Really sick. Reha, who dreams of becoming a doctor even though she can&#39;t stomach the sight of blood, is determined to do whatever it takes to make Amma well again. </title>

<title>Melly only joined the school band because her best friend, Olivia, begged her to. But to her surprise, quiet Melly loves playing the drums. It&#39;s the only time she doesn&#39;t feel like a mouse. Now she and Olivia are about to spend the next two weeks at Camp Rockaway, jamming under the stars in the Michigan woods. But this summer brings a lot of big changes for Melly: her parents split up, her best friend ditches her, and Melly finds herself unexpectedly falling for another girl at camp. To top it all off, Melly&#39;s not sure she has what it takes to be a real rock n&#39; roll drummer. Will she be able to make music from all the noise in her heart?</title>

<title>Zomorod (Cindy) Yousefzadeh is the new kid on the block . . . for the fourth time. California’s Newport Beach is her family’s latest perch, and she’s determined to shuck her brainy loner persona and start afresh with a new Brady Bunch name—Cindy. It’s the late 1970s, and fitting in becomes more difficult as Iran makes U.S. headlines with protests, revolution, and finally the taking of American hostages. Even mood rings and puka shell necklaces can&#39;t distract Cindy from the anti-Iran sentiments that creep way too close to home.</title>

<title>It&#39;s the summer before middle school and eleven-year-old Bug&#39;s best friend Moira has decided the two of them need to use the next few months to prepare. For Moira, this means figuring out the right clothes to wear, learning how to put on makeup, and deciding which boys are cuter in their yearbook photos than in real life. But none of this is all that appealing to Bug, who doesn&#39;t particularly want to spend more time trying to understand how to be a girl. Besides, there&#39;s something more important to worry about: A ghost is haunting Bug&#39;s eerie old house in rural Vermont...and maybe haunting Bug in particular. As Bug begins to untangle the mystery of who this ghost is and what they&#39;re trying to say, an altogether different truth comes to light--Bug is transgender.</title>

<title>Long ago, best friends Bridge, Emily, and Tab made a pact: no fighting. But it’s the start of seventh grade, and everything is changing. Emily’s new curves are attracting attention, and Tab is suddenly a member of the Human Rights Club. And then there’s Bridge. She’s started wearing cat ears and is the only one who’s still tempted to draw funny cartoons on her homework. It’s also the beginning of seventh grade for Sherm Russo. He wonders: what does it mean to fall for a girl—as a friend? By the time Valentine’s Day approaches, the girls have begun to question the bonds—and the limits—of friendship. Can they grow up without growing apart? </title>

But she can always look back at the list she keeps in her green notebook to remember the things that will stay the same. The first and most important: Mom and Dad will always love Bea, and each other. When Dad tells Bea that he and his boyfriend, Jesse, are getting married, Bea is thrilled. Bea loves Jesse, and when he and Dad get married, she&#39;ll finally (finally!) have what she&#39;s always wanted--a sister. Even though she&#39;s never met Jesse&#39;s daughter, Sonia, Bea is sure that they&#39;ll be &quot;just like sisters anywhere.&quot; As the wedding day approaches, Bea will learn that making a new family brings questions, surprises, and joy.</title>

And he doesn&#39;t know if things will ever be &quot;normal&quot; again . . . Ezra&#39;s always been popular. He&#39;s friends with most of the kids on his basketball team--even Brian, who usually keeps to himself. But now, some of his friends have been acting differently, and Brian seems to be pulling away. Ezra wants to help, but he worries if he&#39;s too nice to Brian, his friends will realize that he has a crush on him . . . But when Brian and his brother run away, Ezra has no choice but to take the leap and reach out. Both boys have to decide if they&#39;re willing to risk sharing parts of themselves they&#39;d rather hide. But if they can be brave, they might just find the best in themselves--and each other.</title>

<title>Ellie is tired of being fat-shamed. Ever since Ellie wore a whale swimsuit and made a big splash at her fifth birthday party, she&#39;s been bullied about her weight. To cope, she tries to live by the Fat Girl Rules--like &quot;no making waves,&quot; &quot;avoid eating in public,&quot; and &quot;don&#39;t move so fast that your body jiggles.&quot; And she&#39;s found her safe space--her swimming pool--where she feels weightless in a fat-obsessed world. It&#39;s also where she can get away from her pushy mom. Fortunately, Ellie has allies in her dad, her therapist, and her new neighbor, Catalina. With their support, Ellie might finally be able to cast aside the Fat Girl Rules and starfish in real life by being her fabulous self.</title>

<title>When sixth grader Silas Wade does a school presentation on former Major Leaguer Glenn Burke, it’s more than just a report about the inventor of the high five. Burke was a gay baseball player in the 1970s—and for Silas, the presentation is his own first baby step toward revealing a truth about himself he&#39;s tired of hiding. Soon he tells his best friend, Zoey, but the longer he keeps his secret from his baseball teammates, the more he suspects they know something’s up—especially when he stages one big cover-up with terrible consequences.</title>

But she also has a photographic memory; she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. She&#39;s the smartest kid in her whole school, but NO ONE knows it. Most people-her teachers, her doctors, her classmates-dismiss her as mentally challenged because she can&#39;t tell them otherwise. But Melody refuses to be defined by her disability. And she&#39;s determined to let everyone know it&#39;somehow.</title>

<title>Fourteen-year-old Nathaniel Clark lives in two worlds—the outside world of his family and friends and his own, special, inside Aspie world, where he’s not forced to interact with people or worry about wearing his clothes right-side out. The world where he can solve mathematical problems that elude even the brightest graduate students. People say he’s a genius, but Nathaniel thinks differently. According to a book he once read, a true genius uses his talent to make a contribution to the world. Nathaniel takes the definition literally, and begins his quest for genius status. &quot;I will start, right after I wash the chocolate off my face. If I want to be seen as a genius, I should not look like an idiot.&quot; </title>

<title>Twelve-year-old Fern feels invisible. It seems as though everyone in her family has better things to do than pay attention to her: Mom helps Dad run the family restaurant; Sarah is taking a gap year after high school; and Holden pretends that Mom and Dad and everyone else doesn’t know he’s gay, even as he fends off bullies at school. Then there’s Charlie: three years old, a &quot;surprise&quot; baby, the center of everyone’s world. He’s devoted to Fern, but he’s annoying, too, always getting his way, always dirty, always commanding attention. If it wasn’t for Ran, Fern’s calm and positive best friend, there’d be nowhere to turn. Ran’s mantra, &quot; All will be well,&quot; is soothing in a way that nothing else seems to be. And when Ran says it, Fern can almost believe it’s true. But then tragedy strikes- and Fern feels not only more alone than ever, but also responsible for the accident that has wrenched her family apart. All will not be well. Or at least all will never be the same.</title>

<title>It&#39;s the first day of summer and Rachel&#39;s thirteenth birthday. She can&#39;t wait to head to the lake with her best friend, Micah. But as summer unfolds, every day seems to get more complicated. Her &#39;fun&#39; new job taking care of the neighbors&#39; farm animals quickly becomes a challenge. At home, her parents are more worried about money than usual, and their arguments over bills intensify. Fortunately, Rachel can count on Micah to help her cope with all the stress. But Micah seems to want their relationship to go beyond friendship, and though Rachel almost wishes for that, too, she can&#39;t force herself to feel &#39;that way&#39; about him. In fact, she isn&#39;t sure she can feel that way about any boy &#39; or what that means. Rachel must discover where her heart is and what that means for her future.</title>

<title>Nate Foster has big dreams. His whole life, he’s wanted to star in a Broadway show. (Heck, he&#39;d settle for *seeing* a Broadway show.) But how is Nate supposed to make his dreams come true when he’s stuck in Jankburg, Pennsylvania, where no one (except his best pal Libby) appreciates a good show tune? With Libby’s help, Nate plans a daring overnight escape to New York. There&#39;s an open casting call for E.T.: The Musical, and Nate knows this could be the difference between small-town blues and big-time stardom.</title>

<title>Thirteen-year-old Habo has always been different— light eyes, yellow hair and white skin. Not the good brown skin his family has and not the white skin of tourists. Habo is strange and alone. His family is forced from their small Tanzanian village, and Habo knows he is to blame. Seeking refuge in Mwanza, Habo and his family journey across the Serengeti. His aunt is glad to open her home until she sees Habo for the first time, and then she is only afraid. Suddenly, Habo has a new word for himself: Albino. But they hunt Albinos in Mwanza because Albino body parts are thought to bring good luck. And soon Habo is being hunted by a fearsome man with a machete. To survive, Habo must not only run but find a way to love and accept himself.</title>

He wakes up in a hospital room and suddenly has to learn his whole life all over again . . . starting with his own name. He knows he&#39;s Chase. But who is Chase? When he gets back to school, he sees that different kids have very different reactions to his return. Some kids treat him like a hero. Some kids are clearly afraid of him. One girl in particular is so angry with him that she pours her frozen yogurt on his head the first chance she gets. Pretty soon, it&#39;s not only a question of who Chase is--it&#39;s a question of who he was . . . and who he&#39;s going to be.</title>

But even with her new friend Freddie cheering her on, becoming a hard-hitting journalist is a lot harder than Jo imagined. That’s not all that’s tough. Jo and her sisters—Meg, Beth, and Amy—are getting used to a new normal at home, with their dad deployed overseas and their mom, a nurse, working overtime. And while it helps to hang out with Laurie, the boy who just moved next door, things get complicated when he tells Jo he has feelings for her. Feelings that Jo doesn’t have for him…or for any boy. <title>Introducing Brie Hutchens: soap opera super fan, aspiring actor, and so-so student at her small Catholic school. Brie has big plans for eighth grade. She&#39;s going to be the star of the school play and convince her parents to let her go to the performing arts high school. But when Brie&#39;s mom walks in on her accidentally looking at some possibly inappropriate photos of her favorite actress, Brie panics and blurts out that she&#39;s been chosen to crown the Mary statue during her school&#39;s May Crowning ceremony. Brie&#39;s mom is distracted with pride&#39;but Brie&#39;s in big trouble: she has not been chosen. No one has, yet. Worse, Brie has almost no chance to get the job, which always goes to a top student. Desperate to make her lie become truth, Brie turns to Kennedy, the girl everyone expects to crown Mary. But sometimes just looking at Kennedy gives Brie butterflies. Juggling her confusing feelings with the rapidly approaching May Crowning, not to mention her hilarious non-star turn in the school play, Brie navigates truth and lies, expectations and identity, and how to&#39;finally&#39;make her mother really see her as she is.</title>

<title>Whoever wrote the uniform policy decided that girls had to wear skirts, while boys were allowed to wear pants. Sexist. Dumb. Unfair. &quot;Girls must wear a black, pleated, knee-length skirt.” I bet I read those words a hundred times during summer vacation. The problem wasn’t the last word in that sentence. Skirt wasn’t really the issue, not for me. The issue was the first word. Girls. Here’s the thing: I may seem like a girl, but on the inside, I’m a boy.</title>

<title>San Francisco and Orangevale may be in the same state, but for Héctor Muñoz, they might as well be a million miles apart. Back home, being gay didn’t mean feeling different. At Héctor’s new school, he couldn’t feel more alone. Most days, Héctor just wishes he could disappear. And he does. Right into the janitor’s closet. (Yes, he sees the irony.) But one day, when the door closes behind him, Héctor discovers he’s stumbled into a room that shouldn’t be possible. A room that connects him with two new friends from different corners of the country—and opens the door to a life-changing year full of magic, friendship, and adventure.</title>

<title>Real life isn&#39;t a fairytale. But Tiến still enjoys reading his favorite stories with his parents from the books he borrows from the local library. It&#39;s hard enough trying to communicate with your parents as a kid, but for Tiến, he doesn&#39;t even have the right words because his parents are struggling with their English. Is there a Vietnamese word for what he&#39;s going through? Is there a way to tell them he&#39;s gay?</title>

<title>Avery Bloom, who&#39;s bookish, intense, and afraid of many things, particularly deep water, lives in New York City. Bett Devlin, who&#39;s fearless, outgoing, and loves all animals as well as the ocean, lives in California. What they have in common is that they are both twelve years old, and are both being raised by single, gay dads. When their dads fall in love, Bett and Avery are sent, against their will, to the same sleepaway camp. Their dads hope that they will find common ground and become friends--and possibly, one day, even sisters. But things soon go off the rails for the girls (and for their dads too), and they find themselves on a summer adventure that neither of them could have predicted. </title>

<title>Kids who get called the worst names oftentimes find each other. That&#39;s how it was with us. Skeezie, Tookis and Addie Carle and Joe Bunch and me. We call ourselves the Gang of Five, but there are only four of us. We do it to keep people on their toes. Make &#39;em wonder. Or maybe we do it because we figure that there&#39;s one more kid out there who&#39;s going to need a gang to be a part of. A misfit, like us.</title>

<title>Joe may only be twelve-going-on-thirteen, but he’s known who he is from the time he was a little kid tottering around in his mother’s high heels. Now in the seventh grade, he wears green high tops with pink trim, has a (secret) boyfriend, and tells it all from A to Z in the alphabiography assigned by his favorite teacher. The thing is, some of it is seriously private. It’s one thing for Mr. Daly to read it, but what if it falls into the wrong hands? Will he be teased forever about those high heels…and even worse, what will happen if his secret boyfriend is no longer a secret?</title>

<title>Rick&#39;s never questioned much. He&#39;s gone along with his best friend Jeff even when Jeff&#39;s acted like a bully and a jerk. He&#39;s let his father joke with him about which hot girls he might want to date even though that kind of talk always makes him uncomfortable. And he hasn&#39;t given his own identity much thought, because everyone else around him seemed to have figured it out. But now Rick&#39;s gotten to middle school, and new doors are opening. One of them leads to the school&#39;s Rainbow Spectrum club, where kids of many genders and identities congregate, including Melissa, the girl who sits in front of Rick in class and seems to have her life together. Rick wants his own life to be that ... understood. Even if it means breaking some old friendships and making some new ones.</title>

<title>By day, seventeen-year-old Jo Kuan works as a lady&#39;s maid for the cruel daughter of one of the wealthiest men in Atlanta. But by night, Jo moonlights as the pseudonymous author of a newspaper advice column for the genteel Southern lady, &quot;Dear Miss Sweetie.&quot; When her column becomes wildly popular, she uses the power of the pen to address some of society&#39;s ills, but she&#39;s not prepared for the backlash that follows when her column challenges fixed ideas about race and gender. While her opponents clamor to uncover the secret identity of Miss Sweetie, a mysterious letter sets Jo off on a search for her own past and the parents who abandoned her as a baby. But when her efforts put her in the crosshairs of Atlanta&#39;s most notorious criminal, Jo must decide whether she, a girl used to living in the shadows, is ready to step into the light. </title>

<title>After Mama Lacy&#39;s death, Fella was forced to move in with her grandmother, Mrs. Madison. The move brought Fella all sorts of comforts she wasn&#39;t used to at home, but it also meant saying goodbye to her sister Zoey (a.k.a. Zany) and her other mother, Mama Shannon. Though Mama Shannon fought hard to keep Fella, it was no use. The marriage act is still a few years away and the courts thought Fella would be better off with a blood relation. Already heartbroken, Fella soon finds herself alone in Mrs. Madison&#39;s house, grieving both the death of her mother and the loss of her entire family. Then one night, Zany shows up at Mrs. Madison&#39;s house determined to fulfill Mama Lacy&#39;s dying wish: to have her ashes spread over the lawn of the last place they were all happy as a family. This entails stealing Mama Lacy&#39;s ashes and driving hundreds of miles to Asheville. Their adventure helps them rediscover the bonds that make them sisters.</title>

<title>Rahul Kapoor is heading into seventh grade in a small town in Indiana. And become the BEST at it. Those four little words sear themselves into Rahul’s brain. While he’s not quite sure what that special thing is, he is convinced that once he finds it, bullies like Brent Mason will stop torturing him. And he won’t be worried about staring too long at his classmate Justin Emery. With his best friend, Chelsea, by his side, Rahul is ready to crush this challenge. . . But what if he discovers he isn’t the best at anything?</title>

Her old room, her old clothes, and the shed, where she spent her childhood creating a fantasy world called Koretris. Ash knows it is a haven for girls, with no men or boys allowed, and filled with fanciful landscapes and creatures. When Ash&#39;s friends decide to try going to Koretris, using one of Kristin&#39;s spellbooks, Ash doesn&#39;t think anything will happen. But the spell works, and Ash discovers that the world Kristin created is actually a real place, with real inhabitants and very real danger. But if Koretris is real, why is Ash there? Everyone has always called Ash a boy. Shouldn&#39;t the spell have kept Ash out? And what does it mean if it let Ash in?</title>
