It is hard to guide the children at home, because I don't really know what are the larger objectives (math, language, science, etc.)

Offer a weekly 1 hour parent office hours where parents to trouble shoot with the teacher challenges at home, check in, compliment the teacher, etc..

MAPS testing

Today was really difficult because of the MAPS testing. Our child was very upset about having to ‘test’ during his time with his teacher. He generally expects that is going to be a ‘fun’ time. Is there any other way to carry out this testing so that it doesn't interfere with my child's time with his teacher?

I need to meet my children's needs for social engagement which is difficult with covid.

Routine and Protecting Engaging Time with the Teacher

Every day, the children need that 1 hr with their teacher to connect, to extend, to engage. That needs to be protected every day.

It's like the pandora's box for screentime! It is so much harder to manage their screentime, when this is how they see their friends and do school. BUT they are learning good skills at a young age, which will help them in the long term!

It does not FEEL like DL kids are being treated fairly or prioritized. What can teachers and school do to change this?

Add a 5 minute break between zoom class meetings. It is too much to have back to back meetings, doesn't give kids any time for transition, leaves them feeling overwhelmed. Just 5 minutes in between for a "passing period" would help a lot!

Give that teachers have not been trained to do this kind of work, I am very impressed with their attitude, approach, and effort to meet each child's needs. Appreciating IA's strengths at this time!

provide time during DL class time for students to connect with each other and with the teacher: morning meetings-with greetings, class council, etc.
