         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><strong>MLS.ELA.W.1.A.2.a.</strong> Brainstorming and recording key ideas using a graphic organizer.<br><br><strong>NCTM</strong>. Understand numbers, ways of representing numbers, relationships among numbers, and number systems. Use multiple model to develop initial understanding of place value and the base ten number system. <br><br>A frayer model can be used as a graphic organizer for students to understand the different ways to show a number. The students will have the topic written in the middle bubble, then the different ways of writing numbers in the remaining 5 boxes. There will be number cards placed at each table around the room, and students are to walk around recording each way to represent the number given. For example, if the number is 5, they should draw a picture using base ten blocks to represent the number, likewise for how many tens and ones, the standard form, and the number written in word form, as well as the numbers that are more/less than it.<br><br><strong>Reed, C. We will discuss their adaptations and other characteristics commonly found in each habitat. The students will then do the sorting activity and place the animals in the correct category of Ocean, Forest, and Arctic habitats.          <description><![CDATA[<div><br><strong>MLS.ELA..R.3.A.2.b. </strong>Read, infer, and draw conclusions to demonstrate understanding by locating facts to answer and/or ask questions. <br><br><strong>MLS.2LS2.C.1</strong> Construct an argument with evidence that in a particular ecosystem some organisms--based on structural adaptations or behaviors can survive well, some survive less well, and some cannot. <br><br>Students will use the colored Venn Diagram to sort the different animal figures based on their habitats. The green circle represents grass and land animals. The blue circle is the ocean and arctic animals. The yellow section to show the animals that can live in both habitats. Students will then explain why they categorized each animal in the particular circle.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The Very Hungry Caterpillar By Eric Carle<br><br>This popular children's book can be used to teach students about the importance of eating healthy and the consequences and effects junk food has on our body. In the book the caterpillar goes through a series of eating multiple different fruits but he is still hungry, so he eats a bunch of junk food and he gets a stomachache. He then eats a leaf and feels much better.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>MLS.ELA.W.3.A.2.d. </strong>Apply research process to gather evidence from available sources, literary and informational.<br><br><strong>NCSS.2&nbsp; </strong>Time, continuity, and change- knowledge and understanding of the past enable us to analyze the causes and consequences of events and developments, and to place these in the context of the institutions, values and beliefs of the periods in which they took place. Study of the past makes us aware of the ways in which human beings have viewed themselves, their societies and the wider world at different periods of time.<br><br>The students will learn about comparing the world long ago with how things have changed over time and how the world is today. This activity makes students think about the ways technology and advancements to items such as a telephone have changed, they are then able to compare what the telephone looks like today and write a sentence to explain this change. B.2.</strong> Measure and estimate lengths in standard units. measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools.<br><br>These math stations can be used to teach students about measurement and weight of objects. The templates are editable and teachers can create their stations with examples and activities related to finding the mass and height of objects or how to use different tools to measure objects. Soon they are asking for hundreds and then thousands of jelly beans. Finally, the two decide on a million jelly beans and the book includes a fold out illustration showing the million jelly beans.
