Students are always looking for ways to be sneaky & get away with things. By letting them have blankets, I think we are opening ourselves up to infractions with phones & displays of affection.

Tardy policy

I am concerned that the tardy policy is very ineffectual. This has always been an eternal issue but this year we seem to be unfocused in our approach. We have a written policy in the handbook that is not being followed (agreed it was not successful). We have had a somewhat confusing group of emails about what is actually being done about tardies. The consequences seem to be only further hindering student academic success when students spend a day or sometimes more in ISS and then are not only late and disruptive but then are missing full periods of learning. We really need to become smarter and more consistent on this issue. We need a real and consistent policy that makes the student not want to be tardy. It needs to not add to anyone's workload but the student.

GEAR UP is an amazing program and senior class is very fortunate for the extra guidance in graduation preparation. CGUHSD needs a permanent program to help each cohort at every stage/grade of high school. Parents and students need regular communication about college preparation and a website with updated information.
