Students must retain and compile their own work, usually outside of class. Motivating students to take the portfolio seriously may be difficult due to home challenges if this is an assignment that requires tons of attention. Also students may have a difficult time being organized and having space for their materials which can be difficult when they are bringing the portfolio home if on paper.
