- There are many practices in the tourism industry that help to maximize tourism's socio-economic contribution while minimizing its possible negative impacts. Those practices include instead of flying to a destination, one could take the train that would minimize carbon emissions, taking public transportation instead of bringing one's own car thereby helping boost the local economy, signing up with a touring company instead of wondering to an unknown destination where local, cultural and environmental facts are not familiar where it is important to be aware of these facts.
- They will absolutely work for our selected destinations. In Grand Canyon, there are indigenous people who still live in protected lands and in reservations and offer tours with the environment in mind. There is what is called the Grand Canyon village that houses hotels and restaurants on the outskirts of the canyon, the proximity of which is on the canyon itself but not within it that it does not disturb the environment or the wildlife within it. The economy of Arizona, the state which the park is located in is nearly due to tourism in the park. Canaima National Park is not be as easily accessible as Grand Canyon. However, tourism is still a major contributor to the local economy providing over 30,000 jobs locally. Tourists can fly into the park and with a tour guide are able to see the famous Angel Falls. Additionally it offers some of the challenging hikes which appeal to the extreme sport enthusiasts.
- Some recommendations from our group would be having stricter guidelines for tourists when it comes to their carbon foot print, having more educational factors during tours where tourists become aware how their presence in the park effects the environment and the animals. Additionally, having more organized tours within the park and make them more appealing where tourists are drawn to join tours instead of going in on their own, and lastly having authority to inform tourists if their behaviors are affecting the environment negatively.
Fatima Bulur
Estephanny Almiron
Jose Arrocha
Maria Clara Pierini

There are many ways tourist can contribute to minimize the possible negative impacts of tourism. It can be as simple as changing the way they travel that can help keep the air clear and reduce the amount of pollution let into the atmosphere. Hiring travel agents who assist with navigation during your stay. Conducting research on the destination ahead of time can really play a huge role in protecting the environment.

These practices will most definitely work for Miami, Florida and Tucacas, Venezuela. Miami in particular already has a harsh environment due to high population, so by practicing what was mentioned above can potentially be a start to a new beginning. Tucacas would be a more foreign environment so doing research before traveling is very important.

The team and I came up with one recommendation and that's for eco-friendly options to be mentioned on all travel sights to create greater awareness of what's at stake if we don't open our eyes and face reality.

Such examples would be taking an alternative method of transportation such as the train compared to a plane which will cause much more damage to the environment. Taking a bike, walking or the metro are all great alternatives to renting a car in foreign countries, especially in larger cities with beautiful scenery.

No unfortunately as both locations are more scenic and don't have a large population or the capability for infrastructure including trains it would be difficult to implement any of these practices at the two chosen locations.

An innovative idea that could be implemented for both locations is virtual reality or a virtual tour where the user can experience the location from the comfort of their home through an oculus headset or a normal screen due to them not being able to make it for reasons whether that be age, work or sickness.

Simon Dalton
Dayana De Freitas
Ignacio Czubaty
Kimberly Campbell

These would absolutely benefit at my selected destinations. In Amsterdam, one can bike, enjoy a variety of food from many different cultures and even experience city to adventure activities.

Do you have any innovative ideas or recommendations? Brainstorm with your team members and propose a few ideas for the selected tourism destinations.

It would be a really cool concept if in Amsterdam, they create a way for people to come and try one of each type of food or item from countries that most regularly visit there. This could be farmers market, one that is open year round and tourist friendly. Similar to their own Epcot!

We also recommend working with the local natives such as the indigenous, and urban population, to strengthen the local capacity to manage tourism and give a better service.
