The terms “greenhouse gasses” and “Global warming” have been thrown around a lot in the past 10-20 years, but many people don’t know what the greenhouse effect does to our climate. When greenhouse gasses (Carbon Dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide etc) are put into the air, the atmosphere traps everything in like a blanket. And that keep the heat from escaping, warming the earth at a much faster rate than normal. The heating of the earth causes ice caps to melt, sea levels to rise, warmer temperatures, droughts, storms, loss of animal habitats, and extinction of some animals.

Soon it was turned into a chemical dumpsite. 100 homes and a school were later built on the site where they dumped toxic chemicals. The Love Canal would explode and chemicals got into the basements of the people that lived there. Kids were being born with birth defects and there was a higher white blood cell count in residents, maybe leukemia. 98 families had moved by the end of the month, 221 families overall.

Now with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Environmental Protection Agency has grants available to safely get rid of toxic chemicals.
