I have a great experienced in standardized exam during standard 6 which I sat for UPSR. UPSR is stands for Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah and it is a national examination taken by all students in Malaysia at the end of their primary school year which is in standard 6 before they leave for secondary school. UPSR is prepared and examined by the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate and it is known as (Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia), an agency that constitutes the Ministry of Education. Next, at the beginning of 2016, students in national schools (sekolah kebangsaan) are required to take six subjects while students in Chinese and Tamil national-type schools (sekolah jenis kebangsaan) are required to take two additional language subjects, total of the subjects that they would take are eight subjects. During my year, I sat for UPSR in 2012 and I just required to take 5 subjects only which are, Bahasa Malaysia 1&2, English, Mathematics and Science. I remembered I was struggling doing exercises for all subjects and I went to tuition classes every weekend. I am glad for my result, even though I just got 3As and 2B, I know that I have already did well in UPSR.

Next, another great experienced in standardized exam during my form 3 year which I sat for PT3. PT3 is stands for Penilaian Tingkatan 3 and during that time, PT3 was something new for the students because PMR was eliminated in 2014 and it was exchanged with PT3. PT3 is a Malaysian standardized examination taken by all Form 3 students in both government and private schools throughout the country from independence in 1957 to 2013. It was set and examined by the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate which also known as (Lembaga Peperiksaan Malaysia). Next, the core subjects that were taken in this exam are Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics, Science, Islamic Studies, Living Skills, History and Geography.

Another great experienced for me during form 3 year which all students sat for oral speaking test and listening test before the actual PT3 examinations. There were 3 teachers and each student need to sit in front of the teachers and need to answer those questions that given by each teacher. The questions were depending on what topic each student got. Next, for listening test, teacher will put a radio on the table in front of the class and the duration of the listening test is 30 mins each for both Bahasa Melayu and English subject. At the beginning of the recording, students will be given instructions to the listening test and we have to listen to the instructions carefully and start to answer the questions based on the radio that we were listened. This was a great experienced for me during my school year. 

Based on my exploration, in Thailand education system, they also develop special programs for English learning such as English Programs (EP), Mini English Program (MEP), English Bilingual Education Program (EBE). In addition, they also will develop Enrichment classes which include the activities that promote English for social interaction, academic literacy and at least 2 hours conversation class for a week in all types of public and private schools and in all levels of education in Thailand.

 In today’s topic, I get to know that education and poverty are directly linked together. Each child raised from different family background, some of the children they have a good education, their parents are affordable and could support their children educational fees while on the other hand, I get to know that, there are some children that comes from poor family background and sometimes it might affect their studies at school. Some children, they need to work to get for extra pocket money and some children they have to stop school because of their parents could not afford to pay the school fees and to buy school uniform. 

Based on today's lecture, I could broaden my knowledge which I get to know that there are some responsible party that can help with these kind of students that comes from a poor family background and could not afford to pay the school fees and Global Citizen are the one that care about the child education which it is something good for a child education.

I hope one day as I am going to be an educator, I could help those children in Malaysia that comes from a poor family and could not afford to go to school and I hope could help them to get their education for them to have a better future.
