I want the students to do most of their observations around the same time of the night so the data they collect is similar. They will be asked to draw a picture of the Earth and Sun and the Moon's relative position (moon phase) to the Earth each night.

Before the students begin their observations I would like to show them a visual representation of the Earth orbiting the Sun and the Moon orbiting the Earth.

We will discuss as a class each day what the students observed the night before by drawing it on the board or using interactive whiteboard to share everybody's drawings.
