The colonial experience of the Philippines changed how everyone act and lived, with Spanish and American culture left behind therefore they had the most effects. But how did it affect me? It affected my name, how I act, my religion, and the experiences in my life. My name has a Spanish origin and meaning and even my last name has a Spanish origin. It changed how I act and socialize because whenever I speak to friends, I speak English and use English slang words and I speak and read better in English. For religion, it is known that Christianity came from Spaniards and I’m catholic. Lastly, it changed my experiences in life because when I was younger, I always watched English shows and movies which influenced me to become who I am today.

What can trigger a revolution

In my understanding, the American Revolution started because Britain attempts to get more control over America and the French Revolution started because of the bad decisions of the monarchy. In the current state of the Philippines, I think it would be impossible because there is no major event that could trigger a revolution, but what would be the trigger? In my opinion, there are a lot of triggers for this thing to happen, whether it is for freedom, our economy, or something in politics. The Philippines fought for freedom against the Spaniards and Americans so for it to happen today is most unlikely since there are no more imperialist countries that have an interest in our country. But for the economy, it can happen but I’d say that it wouldn’t because it is constantly rising unless another dictator ruins it. And lastly, politics is most likely to happen because of different opinions and events that could lead to people hating the current politicians.

Fact 1: I have a brother and a father which whom I have a very good relationship, at the day they are drafted, I will feel worried and sad that they are going to a place where the possibility of dying is high. After 1 year without contact with them, I would be extremely worried, and sad, and my hope of them coming back lessened unless they gave a sign that they are safe or alive. My family and relatives who were also affected will feel lonely and I would feel like a part of my life went missing. At this time, I will pray every day for their safety.

Fact 2: I would be very worried about my family and myself. I am willing to skip breakfast, lunch, and dinner to feed my sister and mother even if they refuse me to do it. I will grow frustrated with the war and the stress of trying to stay alive in a war. I would think of the time when I had food ready in the fridge, cabinet, and more, I would miss the time when my family was together instead of separated because of war, and I would miss everything could do before everything went down.

Fact 3: When gunshots and explosions seem close, again, I will feel worried, I will also feel very scared because I know that my life and family are in danger. Escaping a warzone is very dangerous because of the falling ruble, artillery shots, landmines, and gunshots, so, staying in the shelter is my best choice. Being trapped inside a sturdy shelter is safe but depressing because I will keep thinking that the war will never end.
