The major downfall of the Articles of Confederation  was simply weakness. The federal government, under the Articles, was too weak to enforce their laws and therefore had no power. The federal government was enable to tax them because of their positions. Therefore they could could not support their military or their government. The people in england were mad at the government because their would not stop taxing them.
