Due to the negative impacts of forest reservations, the promotion of a designated area can mean a "healthy, viable, and more naturally distributed wildlife populations that would enforce wilderness values."

But by examining the actual bill, one can clearly see that the bills main goal is the protection and prolonged health of the wilderness area. The bill mentions no changes to regulations or forms of shifting power to the government and outlines the many positive goals this act will promote. The proposed wilderness of Scotchman Peaks will serve as an important source of tourism to the area and protect the beautiful land for the future. There isn’t a need for it to become protected by congress because with the protection from the Forest service is the same as how it would be except no motorized vehicles but there are rules already against motorized vehicles.

Firstly, the area of land is not large enough to impact the amount of natural resources that will be taken from future generations. In fact, the area of area of land proposed for designation is only 1% of the national forest system lands. Also, the characteristic of the land is already not ideal for mining, logging, or other economical purposes. The proposed bill will barely affect recreational access. The designation also contributes to the preservation of biodiversity, and encourages people to appreciate pristine nature.
