The Mexican government then banned American immigration to Texas. Then, the Texas Revolution began. America and Mexico had several fights, the most famous one being the Battle of San Jacinto. It finally ended when the Texans captured Mexico's general, Santa Anna. The peace treaty of Velasco was then signed by both sides, and General Santa Anna was returned. On December 29, 1845, Texas became part of the United States.
