I then tested my knowledge using the Learn quiz where I had to match the German number to the correct English number.

The exercise incredible useful as it helped me quickly learn the numbers instead of simply writing them them. Another benefit was being able to listen to the words instead of just reading them. I then listened to the video with the video hidden and wrote down what words I did and did not recognise. I then reviewed what I hadn't recognised and wrote those words down for revision.

The video was very useful as it was not simply "Mein Hobby ist...". The teacher would ask additional questions such as how many years a student had done a particular hobby for. This was extremely helpful as it helped me quickly learn the singular and plural of nouns whilst also helping me to learn their gender as well. I then used dict.cc so listen to the pronunciation of different nouns in my non table from the previous ISR.

The video was very helpful as I was able to form general rules for when a vowel should be pronounced long or short. For example, having a 'h' after 'a' often results in a long 'a' pronunciation. However  re-reviewed lecture notes and tried the exercise again and was able to get all answers correct. I then made notes of the different accusative cases in a table for future revision.

The exercises where not too hard but put into context the use of the accusative case. The exercise also improved my reading comprehension as there was no English on the page - even the questions were in German. The exercise was very helpful as I had struggled initially with telling the time beyond simple "Es ist [hour] Uhr". The English helped understand the uses of 'vor' and 'nach' which can sometimes be difficult with the Netzwerk neu textbook as there are no explanations. I often paused the video whenever there was a word or sentence I did not understand and searched them up using Dict.cc. This form of learning, whilst hard, displays what normal German conversations look like instead of using concepts and phrases in isolation as we do in lectures.
