not only was willy referring to his son but I believe he was referring to himself as well. Here he is getting up in age and he feels like he hasn't accomplished any of the things he had dreamed of. Ultimately he wanted to give his family any and everything they wanted; he wanted to live that life style where money was no object just as fast as it goes it will come right back with little effort.

they felt if for one split second they showed any kind of fear they would be considered weak. They would be a man. They were afraid they would be picked on made fun of and know one likes that feeling know matter who you are and how strong you are we all have a breaking point.
