James Wolfe was a general in the French and Indian war. In 1757, he was assigned the task of capturing Quebec and in 1759 led the successful attack against Quebec. Wolfe took the risky decision of scaling the cliffs over the St. Lawrence River, looking for any unguarded paths up to Quebec. This caught the French by surprise. The French abandoned the safety of the city walls to fight back, and were hastily defeated by the British. In the vicious battle, Wolfe received traumatic injuries to the wrist and chest and solemnly died on the battlefield. He became a national British hero.

Michaela Davey
