Darius' father was diagnosed with depression but it was not talked about.
Darius hit a kid when he was at boy scouts after the kid said something about his mom, and that was a turning point on his mental health and his medications got switched several times (was an event branched off effects he had from the medication)
Darius constantly is getting picked on by several different people, and it takes a toll on him. 
Darius has a toll on his mental health after the kids at soccer made fun of how he looked.
Stephen Kellner also takes anti-depressants and Darius' grandfather doesn't approve of it
Darius told Sohrab that he had depression and he told him a lot about things that have happened in his life, and he opened up about his dad mistreating him.

His uncle patted him on the stomach and pointed out his stomach and asked where all of his weight came from. It was obvious that Darius was uncomfortable.
Darius thinks that he looks terrible, even when he smiles.

When Darius interacts with his grandparents, it is awkward to him knowing that he has never met either of them and he has to meet his grandfather while he is dying.
Darius' mom got to see her mother after 17 years, and it was a happy time for her
Darius met his grandmother for the first time and they bonded for the first time and they get along well and he feels comfortable.
His grandfather doesn't want him showing any emotion so he gas lights him through any tough times he is having
Darius and his dad start talking but it was a nice conversation compared to how they usually talk to each other, and they even laughed with each other
Darius feels betrayed when he sees lelah with his dad watching star trek, because that was their thing and now they were doing it together.
His family ruined his confidence because his uncle pointed out his weight to him, which took a toll on him.
Darius is happy to be part of the family
Babou started yelling and screaming at Mamou during Nowruz and it changed the mood of the scene. (Because of the brain tumor)
His dad fits into the family more
Darius caught his dad and babou talking about him when they were drinking tea, and they mentioned how Darius has never really had friends before Sohrab
Darius' dad was upset with Darius because of his sister and star trek. Darius was upset because they were watching star trek.
Darius' grandfather said that he was a good brother
After a night of not saying I love you to each other his dad said he loved him and he said it back
