Music was a very common form of entertainment in the Elizabethan era. Queen Elisabeth herself loved to listen to music.
Above is shown a common bard of the Elizabethan era. Bards performed for an audience of common folk, usually, in the local tavern.
Bards played a range of instruments, very rarely seen today.
Most commonly used was the lute. This instrument is a string instrument, meaning it uses the sounds made by strings being pulled and vibrating.
Large instrumental bands consisting of string instruments, large horns, and even harpsicords. (a mix between a piano and a lute) performed grand pieces of music to a very wealthy audience. They made a far bit of money and were well rewarded.
