UNIVERSITY CHOICES

Picking the right university is almost an impossible task but at times people fail to realize that life actually begins at university. The only time you live on your own and make decisions for yourself, on this note I believe the university's academic excellence should not be deciding point. For example what is the city like? Recreational activities? sports ? standard of living and many more. Recently, depression in university has increased drastically, this may be caused by the environment, no one to relate with, insane stress level and the worst part is they trust no one. Growing up I familiarized myself with this quote "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". To sum it up, the main aim is to select a university that will satisfy you and only you in all circumstances.
At the moment, I am stuck on two choices; Loughborough and Birmingham. Both top universities in UK and not just academic wise, all round. I would say I am quite drawn to go to Loughborough due to the sports hype the university has earned.
http://bit.ly/2tHKnVU

Music has been a major hobby in my life, whenever I am stressed I put on my headphones and I get in the zone.

   GREATEST ARTISTS
Over time the world has witnessed several remarkable artists and I am going to give my personal opinion and ranking. The main argument is the change in music style over the years, some prefer music of the late 90s to the early 2000s but for me I believe change is something we all must get accustomed to. The world has witnessed Micheal Jackson, beyond his death his name is still making money for his family. We had the likes of Tupac Shakur and Biggie who gave us pure rap at its best. Moving on music became a bit more artistic with the introduction of Kanye West, he is more than a musician, he is a producer and moreover he is an artist.
Going down this list one will notice a change in the style of music from pure soul and R&B to rap, a bit of hip hop too and if that list went further down we all would've seen trap music which is the buzz of the day.

   GREATEST ARTISTS OF ALL TIME

Micheal Jackson

Tupac Shakur

Whitney houston

Eminem

Biggie

Kanye West

Jay Z

Drake

Beyonce

Rihanna

Lil Wayne

Kendrick Lamar and many more

Drake or as his nickname goes the real 6god, he has been in charge of the music game for years and due to the deserved hype he is the latest and perhaps greatest legend.

ALBUMS

Take care

Nothing Was The same

So Far Gone

Thank Me Later

Views ( this album went 4x platinum, only Eminem has done such)

More Life

If You're Reading This It's Too Late

.....and many more
http://bit.ly/2HpqGEm

Over the years, as a young boy in Lagos, Nigeria I grew up with the love of football. It actually became an issue because I idolized Thierry Henry and whenever he lost a major game I would not eat, and also I could cry sometimes.
It was at that point my passion grew, I began to play football daily trying my very best to emulate my idol. I aspired to play in Arsenal FC, the club of my dreams, the club where Henry made history. It all felt like I was in a movie but all things fall apart; my parents were not on the same page with me. Although I tried my very best to convince them, it was only right to take the realistic option which I also enjoyed doing.

Putting all that aside, I promised myself to still keep striving for success because I believe in miracles.

        MY IDOL
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTt2ZxQj8z-bs4rLEGrS4vtLdMweDTGdZaginfso2FKVFDsVPTcLg

Once again Marvel has broken the charts with this outstanding movie. The sales were the largest numbers ever witnessed. My personal opinion of a movie is; the trailer should not entail the major plot twist of the movie. The main reason why this movie is getting the deserved hype is due to the whole story line and the plot twist. We all expected Klaw to be the villain BUT the scene where Erik killmonger presented Klaw's dead body to the people of Wakanda had me speechless. Plot twist, right amount of banter and a magnificent story, this was more than a movie. Post credit scenes gave us vital details about Marvels Infinity War which we're expecting sometime in May.
http://bit.ly/2Ii8QER

The main challenge in a new school is adapting to the new teaching styles but with a huge sigh of relief this has not been the case for me. The teaching methods are quite informative but discrete at the same time. In addition more time is given to the practical aspect of the class which I enjoy very much. The reverse was the case back in Lagos, Nigeria due to lack of practical session and with teaching the aim was just for the students to pass and not to acquire knowledge.

The amount of work given on a weekly basis can be so time consuming due to assignments from all classes and as time goes on coursework is added to the workload. No complaints because this promotes time efficiency and working smart although a slight break won't hurt sometimes. I must say the workload here is bearable; back home projects & assignments would be given simultaneously.

Friendships built among classmates is very important because it enhances studying in groups. Over time solid friendships in class have been built which has helped me academically. Moreover it builds social confidence interacting with international students.

Moving on, friendships outside class were quite easy to attain which also made life in school smooth.

I believe the class sizes encourages fast learning due to the small amount of students in a class. This gives the teacher an opportunity to relate better with the students.Class sizes could go from 2-15 in a class ( an approximate value)

After a while I began to wonder whether all that I have seen and witnessed had exceeded my expectations but it was quite on track.

The main aim of studying this engineering course is to attain enough knowledge to improve the technology in my home country,on a larger scale the whole world. At this stage in the world everything is technologically inclined so I will make it my duty to enlighten my fellow citizens in order to avoid a digital divide.

Furthermore, I have come to understand that this engineering course is not all academics; perseverance, critical thinking and an innovative mind is needed to nurture the academic skills. Teamwork is also very vital to be successful.

The main issue was adapting to different techniques in pure maths, different formulas which took a while to get used to; the time limit during exams too was an obstacle i had to overcome. Moreover, the English language in UK is quite different from my home country; different essay styles, vocabulary and most especially the pronunciation !

On the other hand, more practical session are needed. The subject ( ELECTRICITY) requires optimum understanding and this can be attained through more practical sessions weekly.

People believe we teenagers are forced into engineering or any science related course but the reverse is the case. Studying Electrical engineering is my personal decision and this due to my desire to develop my home country. We are currently leaving in a technological boom and it will be a shame for my country to be left behind knowing something can be done. An international language like English can seal the deal. Just a step closer to greatness.

The difference in the study of English Language here is slightly different, academic language is of a higher demand which is good. The curriculum is actually a replica of the study back in Nigeria. No surprise because the British colonised the Nigerians till we gained our independence in 1960. This is a great advantage because I remember having a discussion with some classmates and I was stunned by the difference in the academic style.

The speaking sessions in class is remarkable, something I definitely would not forget. On another note, it is also a great opportunity for each of us to express our different cultures using English Language. English knows no barriers, it is everywhere and is helping us socialise better. I naturally dislike essay writing and so I dread every class we have to write essays. But it is something I have to get accustomed to because it is a requirement everywhere.

At times I feel like the spoken language tends to contradict the written language; this is something I would love to know more about. Most times writings are not said as it is written. This is obviously something I need to understand

The manner in which I am taught is quite different to what I am used to. The classes are more practical, for instance once a new topic comes up our teacher reflects it on everyday life or history or even entertainment sometimes. Moreover, the only way a child can learn is if he/she is interested.

Growing up I was not used to technology but over they years I became accustomed to it all. The main purpose of me studying CIT is to brush up my computer skills and of course we all learn something new everyday.

Personally, I enjoy the blog session because it is a great opportunity to express my views on the web. This could help in the future too, I say this because I used to write a lot of poems but afterwards I could not make use of them. This new knowledge gained would help me express that aspect of me. Moving on Microsoft Excel was one application I never used but due to the CIT classes I have found it very useful. Gathering of records, sorting , calculations and formatting.

On the other hand, Microsoft Word came as a shocker to me because I had the idea that it was a basic application. After the first lesson a lot of new things were brought up and I was dumbfounded. This obviously became a problem for me, hopefully it will get better before the term ends.

No knowledge is lost, I feel I need to know more about other Microsoft applications regardless of whatever I wish to study at university. Secondly I need to know what each application can be used for. Finally, the blog on a big scale; what is the next step if one wants to make the blog official.

The teaching methods are top notch, CIT is a practical course but also requires some theory. My teacher does the very best to make sure everyone has an understanding of the basics before moving on to the practical session. To me, this is the most effective way and I enjoy it.

For some reason I had the idea this term would be a breeze due to the number of modules on ground compared to last term. The reverse was the case; Pure Maths 2, Electricity, CIT and English Skills 2, these are the modules. In secondary school I never expected English Skills to be one of my main subjects because personally I disliked it. Well here we are again so I have to change my approach to English.

Always be prepared, never under rate. This term I thought Pure Maths 2 would be bearable, easy rather but I was wrong. In comparison with Electricity, I would say the latter is better and this is because the calculations are built up from the theoretical aspect of the topics. I remember one of my classmates said something similar when the term begun but we all laughed it off, how funny. Amongst all the subjects English Skills 2 and CIT rise above the rest. English skills is basically the link to all subjects, I say this because we are all international students learning in another language. It might come easy for some but some might also struggle. Prioritise succeeding in English for a better understanding of other modules, that is the plan.

Growing up, my mum always told me " with time, you will face challenges and as you grow you will know more about yourself.". This term, I began seeing some truth in that saying because I have already learned so much more about myself. Firstly, it just came to my notice that I am a good team player and I found out through involvements in English group works, Electricity practicals and with no surprise on the football field. It was not all daises and roses because I realised procrastination had almost become a daily routine, and yes it took some time to handle this part of me. Furthermore, socialisation came easy with me and classmates, which is a surprise because I always followed this saying " only speak when spoken to" but I dared to be the one to speak on some occasions. All in all, I would say I have discovered a lot about myself with more yet to come.

As stated earlier, procrastination was a major challenge but this was an obstacle I had to overcome. To solve this, I started doing home-works the minute I was given rather than saying "oh I still have time later on" . Lateness was another core problem due to my desire to sleep for hours, this took a toll on my grades so I had to step up. Alarms upon alarms I would set about ten to fifteen alarms so I would be punctual, as crazy as it sounds it was a success. Obstacles are bound to come up, it is how one tackles it that defines him/her. Lastly, my understanding of academic style language was completely different here so it presented itself as an obstacle. My English tutor truly helped me overcome this, writing academic style essays, reading up on academic words. It all paid off and I was beyond happy because it helped in all my subjects.

Not much has changed about my personal opinions or ideas since the term begun. The main change would have to be speaking up rather than only speaking when spoken to and this is because as a child I was really shy. Coming out of that shell was the best thing to ever happen to me. My idea of studying has also changed for the better. Quality over quantity, I always thought if I do not study for hours I had done nothing or made zero progress. Progression in my studies thought me it is how much you in the span of an hour rather than going 3 hours aimlessly.

Relationships built amongst peers is essential to ones academic success. I would say as a class we have bonded well especially with teachers too. We do not tackle problems individually but rather as a group which improves social skills. Class bonding is a solid foundation for a respectable friendship. Relating with tutors was hard for me at first because back home it was never that easy. As time passed, my personal tutor and I began to relate better, he got a better understanding of the person I am and the goals I aim to achieve. This was a similar case with my English tutor. I am now relating with my classmates with ease, a little banter when it is all tensed but we are all serious and work together when the time is right.

The term is far from over, but quite a lot has been learned. My honest wish is all this can be carried on to university, it will help each and every one of us progress.
