the US was discussed in detail. The overall consensus to that was that the US benefited because it gained philippines, puerto rico and guam It gave them more resources. Benefitted outweighed the costs.

Cuba was touched on too and if their independence was a good thing. However, Spain came in and ended up killing lots of Cubans. So maybe having independence was not beneficial.

Diego did a nice job bringing up specific events, and others like Brayden and Ari added statistics to the convo. I think this is really important to add to the convo, because it makes arguements stronger, and also paints a better picture of US imperialism.

I like how the truth about what imperialism did to other cultures and lands was talked about instead of only pointing out the good it did for America. Keeping the other places and people in mind and how much they suffered because of imperialism is really important to build good future relationships, as well as taking notes on what to do differently in the future instead of using pure force.

I wanted to touch on the benefits of american imperialism. I would have added that US expanded its territories. With doing so this allows technology industries to become stronger.

There is a lot of conversation about the Independence battles of the Philippines. Like how, they fought Spain but also fought the US at the end in 1898 and gained independence.

The most important idea discussed was if the United states should interfere with foreign affairs or not because it tied into the second question. If they do interfere with foreign affairs then they mostly support democracy and human rights to help and benefit other countries.

America's involvement seems real in the sense that getting mixed up in another country's situation or battle could make it worse for themselves and others. Theres some benefits that could be gained but overall theres a high chance of negative outcomes such as money, territory and a loss of trust. HH
