UNHCR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees) reports that Türkiye hosts over 3.6 million Syrian refugees, mainly due to the Syrian Civil War which started in 2011. People also come from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran, fleeing war, oppression, poverty, or political persecution.
