What I have learnt from neurodiverse learners: we can support more people, we all have individual needs and if someone wants to wear loops I hope this is more widely accepted. Neurodiversity has more of a voice so hopefully this can be more accepted with less stigma.

They can often have very low self esteem so might not take feedback well

What I have learned from a neurodiverse work colleague?

My colleague has autism & ADHD. She’s very open about it. My learnings from being her support at work:
Give time
Listen
Allow self expression
Adjustments to meet her needs matter a lot
Be not afraid to be honest in your thoughts, but make sure she understands your point of view

Neurodiversity can be a strength

Remain curious, be self aware, be flexible, be clear with expectations and communciation. Check in with what they want, what they value, what they believe their strengths are, their view on personal and professional growth and change. Test things out, role model imperfection and being human. If things are tricky explore different approaches and styles. Value the opportunity to learn together.
