This amendment describes the rights and freedoms of the people that the government cannot take away. Freedom of religion means that the government cannot establish a national religion and force citizens to practice it. Freedom of speech means that the government cannot stop you from saying what you want, and freedom of the press means that the government cannot control what news and media outlets say. Finally, the right to assemble means that the government cannot stop people from protesting peacefully, and the right to petition the government means that the people have the right to ask for adjustments or changes to the government.
