They created robots to do things that humans can not more efficiently. The RASSOR is a robot that NASA scientists use to pick up sample of dirt to send back to Earth for examination. The Valkyrie was created to work in dangerous conditions that humans could not work in. The Rover was used to excavate new lands and send back samples as well as the RASSOR.
