The Survivor Tree, is a tree that was renamed this way because it survived the terrorist attacks that hit the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The tree, which was discovered in the rubble, was badly damaged, but it was still entrusted at the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. The Survivor Tree was taken care of and recovered to be returned to its place of origin in 2010, becoming one of the symbols of the 9/11 Memorial which represents a visible line of demarcation between the past and the present.
