The 'myth' of Atlantis comes from the book(s) written by Plato; a Greek philosopher. Plato stated that the actual 'tale' of Atlantis came 9,000 years before his own time, and that it had been passed down through generations of poets, priests, and others. This may be true, but Plato's writings are the only existent/known ones. In addition, Plato said that Atlantis's founders were half human and half god, and that it had a very prosperous and beautiful capitol city.
