I would like to have a classroom website, or a place where I can post all assignments, videos, links, etc for absent students (like Moodle).
I would also like to know what technologies my STUDENTS are using, so that I can stay in touch with them.

Google Classroom, although not a full LMS, can accomplish much of what you are asking for. The students have used it here in various classes, since it came out. Also, here is an article from an author I like about 12 ways to use GClassroom.
Martha

Weebly is so user friendly with the drag and drop method that works so well. Remember that it takes time and is ongoing. I did my site last year and it was good then I had to delete it ready for this year... So it never ends but allows you to tailor to your needs the children's needs. Seesaw is also amazing for posts, video, links, etc. Incorporating videos for students who need more practice or absent is really helpful. Also remember to ask your kids what they are using and collaborate with how to integrate them into the classroom. To flip the classroom and have the children teach you is great to build your relationship and connections.
