         <title>Code of Hammurabi - 1750 BCE</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Code of Hammurabi was a set of laws established by the king of Babylon (modern day Iraq) at the time. Despite this harsh and very hierarchy dependant set of laws, Hammurabi has been credited for retribution and restitution in the law. Criminals were punished and had to financially restore the victims of their crimes. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Previous to the ancient greeks, power had always been one sided and absolute. Now the Greeks have created something called representative democracy. This is especially important to us because Canada is a representative democracy. Citizens vote for a leader and through that another concept was born; jury duty. Men in that time were expected to accept their jury duties and participate in the criminal trials. </div>]]></description>
