Chalk Talk is a routine that can be used as an anticipatory set. It can be utilized as an activity that allows students to answer an open-ended question about a topic. It also allows the student to reflect on their thinking and see how others thinking. The great about this routine is that it can be done silently, while students record their thinking on one sheet of paper.

Students will have to tell how what the character is thinking and feeling in the narrative. Students will then use YouTube to create a mini movie that shows the difference in 3rd person (act the story out in 3rd person) and 1st person (act the story out in 1st person).
