As long as it is fair use of a CD. I always thought copying things like music or videos were completely forbidden. I never knew there was a Fair Use Checklist that we are supposed to fill out if we plan to copy something that is copyrighted. It is quite a long checklist. Also, I enjoyed the NC Public Schools site that had a Fair Use in Education Presentation by Kathy Parker. Things /pictures we see on line, we do not think much of it. However, we should meaning we need to seek permission for pictures/ things on line before just using them. Also, I learned a lot of resources on creative common website that can be used because the creator has already given the ok to use certain materials/pictures. In addition, I think the Digital Citizenship Pledge is awesome. It allows the students to take ownership and be responsible for using technology around the world. https://padlet.com/julie_johnson17/9nx2hbzfhkpy/wish/263138455 Mrs. Anthony]]> 2018-05-23 18:43:38 UTC https://padlet.com/julie_johnson17/9nx2hbzfhkpy/wish/263138455 Common Sense Media https://padlet.com/julie_johnson17/9nx2hbzfhkpy/wish/263491574 I love the Mental Health subsection in the Parents section of the website.  I believe it addresses many of the things that come up with parents related to their student's use of technology and mental health/wellbeing.  There is an article entitled "School-Readiness Boosters for Kids with learning and attention issues" that provides links and information on a number of helpful apps.  The app Morning Kids could be beneficial with students who need help with everyday routines, especially those who have challenges in the morning that affect on-time daily attendance.  I also like the recommended app Choiceworks Calenar which also helps students with executive function challenges, especially those that struggle with changes and transitions.

]]> 2018-05-24 21:46:21 UTC https://padlet.com/julie_johnson17/9nx2hbzfhkpy/wish/263491574 Digital Citizenship:Common Sense Lessons https://padlet.com/julie_johnson17/9nx2hbzfhkpy/wish/264049031 I enjoyed reading the lesson titled Digital Footprints and Reputation.  It talked about how students can protect their own privacy as well as respect the privacy of others.  I encountered several issues with using the simple passwords in Learning A-Z.  Students were going under other student accounts and spending coins earned.I ended up having to change everyone's to their student number. If I had taught this lesson before, I would hope this would not have been a problem.
I also learned a lot reading "Copyright Frequently Asked Questions". This was benefical especially using music and video clips in my classroom. This would also be great for Middle and High School students with creating media projects

There are so many people that could benefit from that today! it is a great tool to start using at an early level, such as elementary, so they will understand how to find reliable resources and how to use them properly. Even when I taught at the high school level, they were unaware of what copyright was and how to use resources appropriately. I also enjoyed the common sense media website for all levels to understand internet safety and how to conduct themselves while using the internet.
