I would appreciate additional support for a group of students in my class who are currently experiencing challenges in developing certain learning skills. To better meet their individual needs, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity for these students to receive targeted instruction through one-on-one or small group sessions with a teacher in a quiet and focused setting.

Yes, I am feeling overwhelmed at times, particularly when supporting students with special needs in the classroom. It becomes especially challenging during periods when my ECE is away for her lunch break, as I am solely responsible for managing the needs of these students while also ensuring the safety and continued learning of the rest of the class.

Would welcome the support for the students who have not build their foundational skills of number sense and sounds yet. Primary students already need small group instruction, receiving support for the students who need constant assistance will be helpful.

Advocacy to the school board that we need more support for students with special needs and an increase of allocation to ISSP and ESL to meet the needs of the students in the building.

Yes, some of the factors contributing to the feeling of being overwhelmed include the volume and length of emails, as well as the tone of some messages, which can sometimes feel intense or urgency-driven. While I understand that these communications are meant to ensure clarity and efficiency, the pace and tone at times can feel a bit unsettling or anxiety-inducing.

Yes, student behaviours seem to be more out of control than they ever have been and it's very taxing on teacher mental health and general day to day well being.

Having to constantly worry about paper and prints when just trying to provide students with supports they require. Students require either paper and prints or reliable up to date relevant technology that they can use with ease so in a 40 minute period they do not have to deal with unreliable, broken, slow internet and technology getting in the way of learning.

Limits on prints are also a problem (printed day plans, printing numerous forms, schedules, emergency plans, washroom sign out pages etc.)

Teachers have to use their planning time getting paper or finding paper as sometimes the office is off limits and other times there is just no paper available. Teacher planning times could be used more efficiently if paper was near the printer and prints were not limited.

We would greatly benefit from increased access to printing resources to further support our students in reading, writing, and math. For example, having the ability to print graphic organizers would be incredibly helpful in guiding students as they organize their thoughts and develop detailed writing. Given our large ELL population, having printed materials tailored to their learning needs would be a valuable tool in providing targeted and meaningful support.

Class sizes are quite large, bringing diverse student needs. With limited in-class support and teachers managing heavy workloads, it’s challenging to differentiate instruction and meet with students individually, as much time goes to classroom management. Additional support would greatly enhance our ability to address all learners’ needs.

Documentation

Adjusting the documentation to simplify it particularly for students who have already had concerns raised in previous years. It feels like the documentation is just re-doing what was already done in previous years. Also documentation for incidents outside during ebreak becomes a challenge when students do not report it at the time and then are sent to us while we are in the middle of teaching a class.

Copies/Prints & Support

We need more copies and prints given that class sizes are very large this year in the junior and intermediate classes. Also we do not have enough technology to allow students to have 1 device per person and we would like to reduce screen time for students when possible. We need more prints/copies to support this.

Support for students

It would be helpful to get some periods of support with the ISSP/ESL teacher coming in and supporting small group instruction. Classes being so large and having so many needs makes it more of a challenge to provide meaningful small group instruction.
