This ensures that we have the right to show their face when distributing and duplicating the finished product.

Storyboards, this is to give an idea to the cast on where I want the camera facing and what will be happening in each scene.

Script, this is to give the team the idea of what is happening in the short film. This also indicates where the shots are going to be set. e.g. inside/outside.

Synopsis, this gives a short description of what the film is about.

Recce, this is a description of the room. Smoke alarms, toilets, and what the room looks like.

Analysis of existing media. This gives us ideas of what films use.

Introduction

I will be evaluating the Star Wars project I have been working on. For this project I was the producer and therefore I made sure everything would be done on time and helped complete the paperwork.

Pre-Production Phase

In the pre-production phase of the project, I was in charge of making sure that all the paperwork is completed on time as I was the producer. I had worked on completing the budget, a recce form, a risk assessment and analysis and research. I also helped pitch ideas to the group that could help with the pre-production phase.

For the budget I had to list everything we needed to use in the pre-production, production and post-production phases of the project and list all the roles we needed as well and work out how much it may cost for the whole project.

The recce form and risk assessment were filled out in accordance to the location of filming. This included filling out the recce form with what would be available at the location and the risk assessment included the risks of filming at that location.

For the analysis and research I researched the 'reality' show 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here' and conducted research on Star Wars as well. From this I was able to find the camera shots used in the two, so we could use similar shots in the project. I also found the transitions they use which would help with post-production stage.

Production Phase

In the production phase, I operated one of the cameras and helped make some decisions of what we may include in the video. I also ensured that we had the right shot type, in case we did not, and I was responsible for obtaining the equipment we would use when filming. I also ensured that the cameras were operational and adjusted the camera I was using to the right settings.

To get permission to film in that area.

PREPRODUCTION:

All of these things (above) was in my job roles which I shared with two other people in my group. When I had finished a part of my job, I kept on checking the boxes on the sheet that my tutor had gave to me. As I wasn’t the only person doing the same jobs as me I was keep making sure that the other person was not doing the same paperwork as what I was doing.

PRODUCTION:

This section is the production part and within this section was to shoot the scenes. On the day we had one of our members not turn up and she was our camera operator because she was the only person that was not in the film but instead the director (Andrew) had to make a quick decision and got someone else to be a part of our film, so that I became the camera operator. When we first walked into the classroom where we were shooting, the tables and chairs were out covering the room because there had just been an exam in the room, so before we got set up we had to move all of them out of the way of us filming. I was in charge of the camera, but we all helped each out in each job role on the day and that made us better as a group. The evidence that we have is of all of the paperwork that we did in the preproduction.

In this task we were asked to create an idea for a short film that was based in the Star Wars universe. My role I my group was the produce of the group.

When we were getting ready to shoot the short film was expected to make suer that all the paper work was done, such as all the risk assessments and rece forms but mainly make sure that the story bored and script were done by the director so that we could actually go out and record the scenes that were needed. Once we were ready to shoot I made sure that all the actors had there costumes all of the props we had made sure I booked out true filming equipment on the correct times that I could book them and made sure everyone knew exactly what time were filming and the location of the shoot.

Preproduction
As I said in my first paragraph I made sure that all of the paper work was done so that put group was able to film when we were ready.

Production
I made sure that we had a time schedule for when we were filming and had all of the actors ready with the costumes and got what props we would need and I also booked out the equipment for filming.

Unit 3/22 - Star Wars Short Film Evaluation

In the short film my aim was to create a high-tension fight scene set in the Star Wars universe. The characters in my short film are a Sith Lord and a Jedi based in an abandoned death star corridor. My role was Director and I was in charge of writing the script for the short film and to tell people how I want the film to look.

In the Preproduction stage I made sure that everyone in the group had read the script and they understand what they were doing when we shoot. The tasks and paperwork I did were getting the actors to sign a Contributor form so I know that I have their permission to use them in my short film. Within the group we created the storyboard and wrote the script. This planning helped as it meant that we were organised and knew what we were doing for when we shot the footage instead of just making it up on the spot.

In the Production process we set up our equipment in the chosen place to film which was in a corridor and we made sure that the cameras were all in focus and that the actors were correctly in the shot before we started shooting. I was responsible for telling the actors and the camera operator what I want them to do, foe example when the actors were acting I told them if I wanted them to change their facial expression to make it more intense so that it looked better, I was also responsible of reading out the script and telling people what the next scene will be and how I want It to look. The shots that were used were close ups and mid shot angles and an off the shoulder angle. I think that the camera work is good because it is a range of different camera angles that make the short film look more complex and varied. To improve I could of added more camera angles to add more depth to my short film and to make it more appealing to the eye.

In the Postproduction process we watched through all of the footage and we renamed them all to say what the clip is. We deleted the ones that wouldn’t work or that were blurry. We then made a video log of all the scenes and made notes of them. I was responsible for helping the editor edit the final footage and help choose the music that I want for the short film.

I think that my film is good because it is exciting and action packed to watch and it will keep the audience entertained and immersed in the tension. I believe that it will please the target audience because these type of fight scenes are always very popular in the film industry and always do very well and the target audience will love what we have done as it is unique. If I was to do my film again I would choose a different area to film as the corridor that we filmed in inside college was very hard to shoot in due to a lot of people kept walking past and getting in the shot meaning we kept having to re shoot scenes. It also didn’t look right for the Star Wars universe as it didn’t look like a spaceship/ death star and you could clearly tell it was in a college. If I was to do it again I would also make sure that I had the correct costumes as we ran out of time to purchase them, I think that if I had the costumes it would of improved the film as it would be more clear to tell who the enemy and who the good guy is and look more suitable. My creative input to help with the overall outcome was thinking and coming up with the idea of the short film and writing the script for it, I also told people what to do on the set and what camera angles to use. We used teamwork throughout the whole process and we all worked together really well to help each other out and everyone contributed and put their input in to share ideas.

Unit 3/22- star wars short film evaluation

For this task we had to make a short film that was linked to Star Wars.

My role while making this film was producer which meant that I had to make sure that everything would be finished on time. Because I was producer I had to:

· Finish the call sheets for each day that we were filming

· Book any equipment that we needed

· Complete the risk assessment

· Finish the storyboard

· Complete a recce form of where we were shooting

Preproduction:

I shared these jobs with the other three people in my group because we decided that it would be easier for us to share jobs during the preproduction. I kept checking the list of jobs that we had to make sure that all the jobs were finished and to make sure that another person wasn’t doing the same paperwork as me.

Production:

This was when we started to record the footage. On the day of our shoot, everyone in our group was there and everyone had something to do. Lauren was acting, Liam, Rohan and me made sure the camera was in the right place and recorded the footage, I was also acting in the film. We also got Jake to act in our film because his group had already recorded their footage. We were filming on the field next to the college so there was enough room for us while we were filming.
