At the museum visit to the V&A we saw the Tim Walker Exhibition, that was based around disturbed photography, art direction, and a lot of different perspectives on how we perceive certain objects or norms. He displayed both installations, music, photography, video and colors in different rooms throughout the exhibition, every room with a new subject/object.
He disrupts the idea of normal through his art, especially his photography and the art direction behind it.

Sculpture workshop - Cereal

This week we had a sculpture workshop about our object. I have chosen cereal as my main object and had to find 10 different ways to display cereal in an unusual way - a 1-minute sculpture in 10 different ways.
I experimented with places, other objects and expressions to display my main object in a way we don’t use cereal usually. Before this task we wrote down opposites of our object, and found ways to not use and show our object in an obvious way - how do we NOT use cereal?
Cereal is only used for eating, so I found this task really fun to do, as we have to think out of the box and do the opposite of obvious.
We definitely don’t use cereal as hair decoration.
Yet

Daylight studio workshop

As we’re getting closer to an idea/concept for our project, the daylight studio workshop was very helpful. We were shooting our photos with our own objects for the project, in front of colored backgrounds, playing around with the objects in front of the camera. This was a really good practice since we learned how to use light, color, angles, a prob and camera all together - creating a visual concept through different ideas. My object, cereal, has taken a different direction and I now want to take another approach with my project - to use milk instead of actual cereal, as milk is associated with that.

Last week I didn’t my first photoshop thing for my project, with the idea of using milk to pour over different models. I wanted the campaign to be commercial, focused around the beauty aspect. A lot of inspiration from milk commercials, hair commercials, and even glossier, the makeup brand. The idea is to use milk in a fun way, playing around with it, and use it as a part of a beauty routine. Washing our hair in it, our face, body etc.
I wanted to use different models but with a few similarities during the shoots. The pink background will stay the same, and everyone is wearing a t-shirt (not the same), but also bring at least one of their individual/personal things that represents them, suck as jewelry, accessories, even their hair or beard if that represents them. As the idea behind the campaign is to make it quite girly and fun (even with the boys), each model will display some kind of feminine feature.
My first shoot was with Kristine, wearing a basic green t-shirt, some necklaces, and a neutral face.

As I’m doing some progress in my project, by finishing all photoshoots, typeface etc. I have done a GIF of one of the models Ricky with the milk (close-ups mostly), from the photo shoot. I decided to use stop motion for the sting, as the photos came out better and more thought through than the videos. The initial idea was to make a video/GIF of all the models, but as a start I did one that has the best photo series with the milk. I included the typeface as the name of the campaign: “Milk Me” in the beginning and end.

As the final outcome, I have created a font, name and colour-way for my concept: Milk Me.
I've used the colours off white and light pink consistently through all campaign shots, posters, video and magazine spread, as the colours compliment each other as well as the "message" behind my campaign. I was inspired by Glossier commercials and colours, as they are usually used to show a perfected beauty image - here I wanted to use the same but completely different and disrupt the perfect image of beauty.
