What caused the Chilean Earthquake is a strike slip which means when tow tectonic plates slip by each other which resulted a earthquake of a magnitude of 8.8. The epicenter of the earthquake is 95 kilometers away from the shore of Chile which surprises me because the earthquake's epicenter was far away but still resulted a strong earthquake and it also resulted 2 meter high waves hitting the shore of Chile.
