Kepler was born on December 27, 1571 in Weil der Stadt, Swabia. As a child, Kepler's father left to fight for the Catholic Duke of Alva in the Netherlands and a year later his mother left him, leaving Kepler in the care of his grandparents. He was a deeply religious man who followed Martin Luther. Kepler intended his job to revolve around religion but Michael Mastlin influenced him and he became interested in astrology. He later became the imperial mathematician of Tycho Brahe's observatory. This is when he contributed to the Scientific Revolution the most. Like the beginning of his life, the end was very difficult for Kepler. He didn't have much money so he set out to Austria to collect money owed to him. Along the way, he stopped in Regensberg where he became ill. Kepler died on November 15, 1930.
