1.

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects memory, cognition, and the ability to perform daily activities. It is the most common cause of dementia, a general term for cognitive decline and memory loss that interferes with daily life.

- Symptoms:

. Early symptoms often involve memory loss, difficulty remembering recent events or conversations, and challenges in problem-solving.

. As the disease progresses, individuals may experience confusion, language problems, impaired judgment, and changes in personality and behavior.

2. There are several methods that can potentially help improve memory:

- Get enough sleep.

- Stay mentally active.

- Regular exercise.

- Eat a healthy diet.

- Minimize stress.

- Use mnemonic devices.

- Practice repetition and retrieval.

3. How do you try to memorize new words when you learn them?

-Keep an organized vocabulary notebook.

-Look at the words again after 24 hours, after one week and after one month.

-Contextual Learning: Instead of trying to memorize words in isolation, learn them in the context of a sentence or a short story

-Review and practice: Practice using the word in different contexts, repeat it out loud, regularly review and use the new words in writing and conversation.

4. Chess is a sport that helps you develop your concentration and improves your level of thinking. Because it doesn’t depend on age nor does it require retirement ( ri trai ơ mầm), this sport is played by people of all ages during the whole year.

Playing chess have many benefit:

Ex: Socialize

Improves your learning level: It improves your learning level because it requires a lot of logical thinking.

Teaches independence: Chess is an individual sport, so the more you play it, the more you can learn from it. You can go to chess clubs and you will naturally become more independent.

5.

- Physical health decline: The physical effects of aging, such as a decline in strength, mobility, and overall health, can be a source of worry. Chronic conditions, diseases, and the potential loss of independence are often concerns.

- Eyes and Ears

During the aging process, our vision and hearing change. That image that was once clear from afar may now be blurry, and we may mishear words.

- Digestion and Metabolism

Our metabolism slows during aging. This means that we may not burn food as fast as we used to. Plus, our digestion can become more problematic. This can include gastroesophageal reflux disease, which is when parts of the esophagus do not close properly or the stomach leaks back acid.

- Heart Disease

Heart Disease among aging ones. This not only raises a person’s risk for developing heart disease and stroke but can also lead to heart attack, loss of vision, limb loss, and other issues when not managed during aging.

When trying to memorize new words, repetition is key! First, I make sure to write down the word, its definition, and an example sentence. Then, I read it aloud several times to reinforce pronunciation. Breaking the word into smaller syllables or associating it with a familiar word also helps. Additionally, I try to use the new word in daily conversations or in writing exercises, as practical application aids in retention.Instead of memorizing it, I often apply it to everyday life. Thinking in English instead of Vietnamese will help you remember more vocabulary and even faster. It's a personal experience and this learning style will suit some people but not everyone. We can also memorize and copy words into notebooks in the traditional way.

It represents the complexity and interconnectedness of memories. Unlike a computer, which implies a linear storage system, or a leaky bucket, suggesting information loss, the palace metaphor aligns with the associative and diverse nature of human memory. Each room in the palace can symbolize different aspects of memory, and the interconnected corridors illustrate how memories link and influence each other. This metaphor captures the richness and complexity of human memory more effectively than the other options.

In my perspective, the best metaphor for human memory is a leaky bucket. The reason I see it this way is because a leaky bucket cannot completely contain the liquid inside and it will gradually leak out. and may eventually run out. That is similar to the fact that human memory gradually fades over time and is no longer as clear as when initially absorbing information. At a certain age, when people get old, they may forget everything throughout life.

This metaphor is more nuanced and accurate than the other two options. A computer is a useful metaphor for some aspects of memory, such as the way that information is encoded and retrieved. However, it fails to capture the complexity and richness of human memory, which is not simply a matter of storing and retrieving data.

A palace with many rooms, by contrast, captures the richness and complexity of human memory. It suggests that our memories are interconnected and multidimensional, with each memory serving as a node in a vast network of associations and connections. This metaphor also acknowledges the role of context and environment in shaping our memories, as different rooms or compartments in the palace might be associated with different experiences and emotions.

Im my view, the best metaphor can be used to describe the human memory is a computer. Just as a computer stores information in its memory units or RAM (Random Access Memory) for quick access and retrieval, our short-term memory stores information for immediate use or manipulation. Similarly, just as a computer's hard drive stores information for long-term storage and retrieval, our long-term memory stores information for more permanent storage and retrieval. The process by which information is transferred from short-term memory to long-term memory can be compared to the process of saving information from RAM to the hard drive. Just as a computer's processing speed and memory capacity can be improved through upgrades or additional hardware, our memory capacity and processing speed can also be improved through training or practice. Additionally, just as a computer's memory can be affected by factors such as overloading, interference, or viruses, our memory can also be affected by factors such as overloading, interference from other memories or experiences over time without proper retrieval or reinforcement practices, or cognitive impairments or diseases over time. However, just as a computer's memory can be protected and maintained through regular backups, antivirus software, and proper usage practices, our memory can also be protected and maintained through regular review sessions, cognitive exercises, and proper usage practices like getting enough sleep, exercise, and a healthy diet for optimal memory performance.

The best metaphor for human memory is "a palace with many rooms." This metaphor captures the complexity and vastness of human memory in a more comprehensive and nuanced way compared to the other options. It presents a more comprehensive depiction of human memory. Also conveys the idea that memory is a vast, interconnected, and structured entity. Just as a palace is composed of multiple rooms, each filled with different artifacts and objects, our memory consists of numerous interconnected neural networks, storing various types of information. This metaphor acknowledges the capacity of human memory to house an extensive range of memories, each with its own unique context and meaning.

Nevertheless, the metaphor of a palace implies organization and categorization. A palace in different rooms may be dedicated to specific themes or purposes.

Similarly, our memories are often organized and categorized based on personal significance, emotions, or relevance. This metaphor highlights the structured nature of memory and its ability to facilitate the retrieval and association of information.

I think the best metaphor for human memory is a computer. Computers are designed to store and retrieve information, just like our brains do. They have a central processing unit (CPU) that performs calculations and makes decisions, similar to how our brain processes and interprets information. Additionally, computers use hardware and software components to store and organize data, which is similar to how our brain uses neural networks to store and connect memories.

It allows individuals to experience different cultures, cuisines, landscapes, and perspectives. It fosters personal growth, empathy, and understanding by exposing people to diverse ways of life. Additionally, travel can provide relaxation, escape from routine, and opportunities for adventure. However, it's essential to consider the environmental impact of travel, such as carbon emissions from transportation.

Space travel refers to the act of traveling beyond Earth's atmosphere and venturing into outer space. It involves launching spacecraft, such as rockets or shuttles, that carry astronauts or robotic probes to explore celestial bodies, conduct scientific research, and expand our understanding of the universe.

2. Space exploration can help us better understand the origins of the universe, the nature of space-time, and the possibility of finding other forms of life beyond Earth.

In addition, space travel has led to numerous technological advancements that have benefited society in a variety of ways.

- Advancements in technology

- Scientific discoveries

- International cooperation

- Space exploration also allows us to understand our place in the universe, potentially leading to breakthroughs in medicine, materials science, and environmental sustainability.

Finally, space exploration has the potential to inspire people and bring us together as a species.

3. There are many negative effects of modern society, some of which include:

-Social isolation: The increasing use of technology and social media has led to a decline in face-to-face interactions, which can contribute to feelings of loneliness and social isolation.

-Mental health issues: The fast-paced and often high-stress nature of modern society can contribute to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

-Environmental degradation: The growth of industries and increased consumption has led to environmental degradation, including air and water pollution and climate change.

-Income inequality: There is a growing gap between the rich and the poor, with a small number of people controlling a disproportionate amount of wealth.

Political polarization: There is often a lack of compromise and cooperation in politics, leading to increased polarization and divisiveness.

-Cyberbullying: Social media has enabled individuals to harass and bully others online. With the anonymity that social media provides, cyberbullies can harass people without facing any consequences.

-Privacy Concerns: Advances in surveillance, data collection, and AI raise concerns about the erosion of personal privacy and individual freedoms.

-Economic Inequality: Access to and proficiency with advanced technologies may further exacerbate existing economic disparities.

Using a computer as a metaphor for human memory because:

Storage Capacity: Computers have finite storage capacity, just like human memory. While computers rely on hard drives or solid-state drives, humans rely on the brain's neural networks to store information.

Organization: Both computers and human memory organize information in a structured way. Computers use folders, directories, and hierarchies, while the brain employs neural connections and patterns.

Memory Corruption: Like computers, human memory can experience errors, distortions, or forgetting. Memories can be altered or lost over time due to various factors such as age, trauma, or interference.

However, it's important to note that the analogy is not flawless. Unlike computers, human memory is highly subjective, influenced by emotions, perceptions, and biases. Additionally, the brain's mechanisms for storage and retrieval are vastly different from how computers operate.

1.Space travel includes launch and in-space propulsion systems, cryogenic fluid management, and thermal management, as well as navigation and landing systems to get our supplies, equipment, and robotic or human explorers to diverse surface destinations. The last nuclear thermal rocket engine tests conducted by the United States occurred more than 50 years ago. NASA and DARPA are partnering on the Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operations, or DRACO program and together, we'll develop and demonstrate advanced nuclear thermal propulsion technology as soon as 2027.And getting to space is just the start of the danger. The principal hazard once there is cancer-producing radiation – the typical dose from one day in space is equivalent to what you’d receive over an entire year back on Earth, thanks to the planet’s atmosphere and protective magnetic field. Add to that the icy cold airless vacuum, the need to bring all your own food and water, plus the effects of long-duration weightlessness on bone density, the brain and muscular condition – including that of the heart – and it soon becomes clear that venturing into space really isn’t for the faint-hearted.

2.Pushing forward the frontiers of science is the stated goal of many space missions. But even the development of space travel technology itself can lead to unintended yet beneficial ‘spin-off’ technologies with some very down-to-earth applications.

Notable spin-offs from the US space programme, NASA, include memory foam mattresses, artificial hearts, and the lubricant spray WD-40. Doubtless, there are many more to come.Space exploration also instils a sense of wonder, it reminds us that there are issues beyond our humdrum planet and its petty squabbles, and without doubt it helps to inspire each new generation of young scientists. It’s also an insurance policy. We’re now all too aware that global calamities can and do happen – for instance, climate change and the giant asteroid that smashed into the Earth 65 million years ago, leading to the total extinction of the dinosaurs. The lesson for the human species is that we keep all our eggs in one basket at our peril. On the other hand, a healthy space programme, and the means to travel to other worlds, gives us an out.

3.Negative impacts could include high costs of resource diversion, ethical concerns related to militarization and space debris, and potential health risks for spacecraft. time travel. Space radiation Astronauts will be exposed to diverse and increasing levels of radiation, different from levels on Earth. Isolated and restricted environments, unsuitable environments cause various types of immune diseases. Stress hormone levels are elevated and the immune system is altered, which can lead to increased susceptibility to allergies or other illnesses.

Alzheimer's disease accounts for about 60% to 80% of diseases that cause memory loss. Alzheimer's disease is one of the common causes of memory loss in the elderly, a disease characterized by the gradual loss of neurons. The disease tends to get worse gradually, negatively affecting the patient's daily activities, memory, language and thinking activities. The disease often appears in people over 65 years old. However, it is still possible to arrive at the age of 50 to 65 years old.

Q2: What methods of improving memory do you know?

I know some methods to improve memory such as repetion and practice, visualization, linking, chunking use multiple senses, promodo technique, but the important methods is get enough sleep.

Q3: How do you try to memorize new words when you learn them?

When I learn new words, I often try to use many different memory methods. First, I focus on understanding the meaning of the word and how it is used in context. Then I regularly repeat that word in model sentences and use it in real communication for reinforcement. Additionally, creating diagrams, vocabulary charts, or notes can help increase your ability to remember new words. The most important thing is to practice continuously and regularly so that new words become a natural part of my vocabulary.

Q4:

Chess is a strategic board game that has been played for centuries. It involves two players who strategically move their pieces on a checkered board with the ultimate goal of capturing the opponent's king. The game requires critical thinking, foresight, and tactical planning.

Q5:

One of the aspects I worry most about aging is cognitive decline. At that time, the ability to self-control and concentrate decreases, putting the elderly in a state of dependence. This can affect the quality of daily life, reducing the ability to participate in favorite activities and maintain social relationships.
