The ta’aruf session was very enjoyable, as I had the opportunity to meet many new friends from different courses and getting to know their backgrounds. We also learned about Adab in Seeking Knowledge. During the learning process, we should not be afraid to ask questions as avoiding them may lead to misunderstandings. At the same time, we should not feel shy or embarrassed about the questions we want to ask. Furthermore, it is important to refer to knowledgeable individuals or scholars so that they can provide us with accurate information.

We learned about Hadith of Jibril. One day, Angel Jibril came to the Prophet SAW in the form of a man. He asked the Prophet SAW about Islam, Iman, and Ihsan. The Prophet SAW explained that Islam is built on five pillars: Declaration of Faith, Obligatory prayers, Fasting in the month of Ramadan, Compulsory Giving and Pilgrimage to Mecca. The importance of Pillars of Islam is to strengthen bond between us and Alah, to strengthen the bond between us and others, to refining souls and keeping away from major sins and to make us the real servant of Allah SWT. Then he said Iman means believing in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and Qada’ & Qadr. Lastly, Ihsan is worshipping Allah sincerely, as if we can see Him, even if we cannot. The hadith also reminds us of the signs of the Last Day.

WISH

May Allah grant us the ability to practice Islam fully, strengthen our Iman deeply and reach the level of Ihsan in our daily worship.

REFLECTION

This Hadith shows that Islam is not only about outward actions, but also about inner belief and sincerity. It teaches us balance, for instance, what we do, what we believe and how we worship.

IMPROVEMENT

I should try improve by performing my Salah with more focus, renew my intention before doing good deeds and remind myself that everything happens is by Allah's plan.

I learned about the last 3 in the Pillars of Iman. The fourth one is believing in Prophets. Believing in prophets means accepting that Allah chose special men throughout history to guide people to the truth. Prophets are role models who teach us how to live correctly. They prove Allah’s mercy, because He never left people without guidance.

Next is believing in Day of Judgement. This means believing that one day, all people will be judged by Allah SWT for what they did in this world. It gives purpose and direction to our lives. Knowing that every deed counts makes us more careful and pushes us to seek forgiveness and do good.

Lastly, believing in Qada' and Qadr. Qadr is the plan, Qada’ is when it happens. We realize we are not in full control, and Allah’s wisdom is behind everything. We have to believe that everything happens according to Allah's knowledge, plan and will.

WISH

May Allah help us to truly believe in His prophets, the Day of Judgment, and that everything happens by His plan.

REFLECTION

These pillars remind us that Allah sent us guides, that one day we will be judged, and that nothing happens without His wisdom.

IMPROVEMENT

I will try to follow the Prophet’s way, get ready for the Day of Judgment by doing good, and accept Allah’s plan with trust and gratitude.

We were given task to do research on Islamic Manners Towards Neighbours. From this, we learned the importance of respecting our neighbours and treating them with kindness. Greeting them with salam and speaking politely helps create a more comfortable and welcoming environment. We are also encouraged to support them, especially by offering help in times of need. In conclusion, practicing good manners with our neighbours strengthens the bond of ukhuwah. Overall, it was a joyful and meaningful experience to learn about this topic.

By directing our intentions solely toward Allah, we have to be consistent which is Istiqamah in our daily tasks. This mindset transforms our actions into acts of worship (Ibadah). Finally, Ihsan which is practice of maintaining the excellence in everything we do.

Reasons and Sources of Hikmah from Ibadah

The purpose of human creation is to worship Allah SWT through various acts of Ibadah. First and foremost, Salah is designed to establish a constant remembrance of our Creator while avoiding wrongdoings. Next is Sawm (Fasting), fasting helps Muslims to attain Taqwa by developing discipline, empathy and a recognition of Allah’s constant observation. These practices will make Muslims become more sincere and have fear of Allah.

Acts like Zakah (Charity) and Hajj (Pilgrimage) provide purification for both the individual and the community. Zakah serves to cleanse wealth and the self from sins and be greedy. Hajj will makes us become more disciplined by following the commandment by requiring them to abstain from disobedience acts while focusing entirely on good deeds. This acts of Ibadah with sincerity allow Muslims to gain Allah’s pleasure.

Preparation of Salah with Khushuk

A valid prayer has to start with the Syarat Wajib which include being Muslim, sane and reaching maturity. One must be in a state of purity from impurities, cover their aurat, face the Qiblah and perform the prayer within the designated time. There are 13 Pillars of Prayers (Rukun Solat), from intention to final Salam performed in sequence. Certain actions such as talking and too many movements could invalidate the prayer.

Khushuk is considered as Sunnah rather than a mandatory pillar. It is defined as calmness and understanding of one’s communication with Allah. Preparation such as performing a perfect ablution, wearing clean clothes and praying in a quiet environment without distractions like hunger or the need to use the toilet. During prayers, we are encouraged to minimise unnecessary movements to be more khushuk.

Virtues Found in Salah with Khushuk

Khushuk is the soul of Salah, representing the presence of heart and mund before Allah rather than just physical movements. According to the Quran, successful believers are those who humble themselves in prayer. This spiritual state is transforming a simple ritual into a moment of connection where a servant is closest to their Creator, particularly during Sujud.

There are five keys of virtues. First is Al-Taah (Submission), trains sincere obedience and discipline. Second is Al-Jihad (Striving), encourages an inner struggle against laziness and distractions. Third is Muhasabah (Self-Reflection), provides a moment to evaluate actions and shortcomings. Fourth is Iffah (Modesty), guarding oneself against shameful and unjust deeds. Fifth is Tawaddu’ (Humility), removes pride by recognising one’s total dependence on Allah.

Fasting and Its Virtues

Fasting is specifically to believers as a means to prove their faith, as correct faith is a necessary condition for the validity of the practice. The goal of this practice is for Muslim to excel and achieve Taqwa, a state of mindfulness and caution against the undesirable which is like walking carefully through a path of thorns, lifting your clothes to ensure you dont get hurt. Fasting acts as this precaution, training to be more careful in your daily life and spiritual journey.

Fasting encompasses several virtues which one of it is development of patience (Sabr) through obedience and self-restraint. And the cultivation of empathy (Rahmah) for the less fortunate. According to Al-Ghazali, fasting exist on 3 levels. The minimum requirement of abstaining from physical desires, and intermediary level where the body refrains from sin, and an optimal level where the heart is kept free from worldly distractions. True fasting must extend beyond only hunger, as saud by the Prophet, Allah Swt has no need for a person to abstain from food and drink if they do not also abandon lies and false conduct.

The Virtues Found in Zakah/Sadaqah

Zakah is compulsory for Muslims that involves giving a specific portion of their wealth to those in need. Zakah means to grow and purify which reflects how it cleanses a person’s character and improves the community. While Zakah is a formal and a required ritual with set rules, Sadaqah is a voluntary act of giving that can be done at any time. These acts help Muslims become more righteous and contribute to the well-being of everyone around them.

Practicing Zakah and Sadaqah teaches Muslims to trust in Allah rather than just relying on their money, It also builds a strong sense of Ukhuwwah by encouraging people to care for one another and show empathy. This creates a more united community where selfishness is reduced and people feel a shared responsibility for the ones who need. Giving wealth in this way brings peace of mind and strengthens both the relationship with God and the bonds between people.
