As a user of social media and technology, we can't deny the fact that technology has helped us in many ways. Unfortunately, it has also changed who we are without us realizing it. "Connected but alone," is a Tedtalk by Mrs. Sherry Turkle that anyone can relate to, especially to the people who are addicted to technology that can eventually lead to a feeling of isolation.

People cannot live normally without their gadgets. In any situation in life, technology is always there for us to temporarily forget our problems. As Mrs. Turkle said, "We are lonely, but we are afraid of intimacy." I agree with this statement because people nowadays are afraid to be judged by other people. We prefer to tap on the screen or communicate using their gadgets because we get to have that power to edit and delete the thoughts we want to say. Then we tend to realize in the end, that it is mere connection that we had with others once our gadgets was gone or destroyed.

Families and friends are always there in time of their needs. But with the use of technology, we learned to "hide from each other," one of the statements of Mrs. Turkle. I also agree with this because many people suffering from depression and anxiety and ended up committing suicide. Lack of verbal communication and interaction with other people are the main reasons.

In any way, we should not abuse our gadgets and social media, we should be mindful on the things we share. Not all things can be found on gadgets and social media and not everything we see is true. It is just a matter of being a responsible user. These things are invented to create strong bonds with your loved ones personally or through social media, not to destroy our relationships with one another by misusing it.
