Last year was a very unique year and I had a group of 9th graders who have never met me and vice/versa. Since we were online for the first 3 quarters of the school year, it was important to me to get to know my students and they know me. I wanted the students to know that I cared, that I understood times are scary and its OK to feel what you're feeling. I wanted them to know that I am here to help.  I will continue with classroom culture building on those relationships.

I think that the virtual medium did not help students break out of their comfort zone. It took me a 9 Weeks session to understand that having virtual students do the same as face to face was not equitable, so adjustments were made that better impacted my virtual students. This also allowed more time for me to focus on face to face students. I focused institutionally by being a voice for teachers on our campus who felt like they weren't being heard.
