I will cover everything that has happened in the movie so far, as well as any science facts that have come up. The movie starts as a strange phenomenon has been happening all over the world. Everyone with a pacemaker drops dead, due to an electro-magnetic disturbance, then birds start crashing into buildings and people for no apparent reason, two scientists, one Russian, one American, They are called in by a general to examine the bodies which dropped dead earlier. The American scientist realizes that there must be a electro-magnetic disturbance, since birds use magnetic fields for long range navigation. He has helpers examine weird events over the last years and looks at the correlation. He seeks out the help of Dr. Zimsky- a notorious and famous scientist. At first, the Doctor refuses to accept the findings. However, after looking at looking at the top secret files, called Destiny, he calls the general and says "It seems that destiny has caught up to us." This is the first time we hear about Destiny. It will not be the last. Meanwhile, a shuttle comes in for landing. A female wants to pilot it in herself, but the male commander refuses and does it himself. The shuttle goes out of contact fro a few seconds, it reenters with a problem. They are about to crash into Los Angeles. The pilot charts a safe course into the river. The space shuttle- the electro-magnetic disturbance interfered with the with the reentry process. The computers did not realize what was wrong. Everything was thrown off like navigation, etc. Some pilots are held for debriefing. The female pilot may be blamed. Meanwhile. a conference is called at the White House. The American scientist is brought in, Zimsky is there, along with top military brass. The problem is that the Earth's core stopped rotating. It generates the EM field. {Even if the EM field degrades, it would not destroy the planet- which is a science mistake} They have to get to the core. There is a hypersonic engine which could burrow through and get to the core. The artificial metal is capable of withstanding the heat.( This is bad science since it would not work) .
