How Veto Power Works, Pocket Veto and Signing Statements

Veto Power means having the authority to reject any congressional legislation. The president is always four options, one of their options is to simply sign the bill making it a law, their second option is to veto the bill which the president will have to send the bill back to Congress which then Congress has to override the veto, their third option is that they are allowed to make a bill become a law by not acting (signing/vetoing) within the the ten day reviewed that is allowed by the Constitution and their fourth option is the pocket veto itself, this option can only be used once those 10 days are up and if Congress withdraws during that period, the bill will not become a law.
A pocket veto can be used after a legislature has delayed when the chief executive doesn’t sign a bill. Signing statements has been used to point out constitutional or any other problems the president sees in a brand new enacted law. It has also been used to do things such as to be able to direct the way a new law has to be enforced.
