For a really long time, I struggled with finding a gym routine that wasn't just good for my body but also my mind. I needed to be working out because I cared about my body, not how it looked. It took me so long to create healthy motivation. When I met my now close friend, let's call her Sarah, she inspired me to create a healthy routine for working out and even dragged me along with her. When I worked out with her I felt confident and strong, and kept that energy and happiness of working out everytime I go to the gym.

Isla Carter: Guided by Quiet Purpose Isla

Carter was never motivated by recognition or fame. Instead, her drive came from a deep desire to create meaningful, lasting change. As a social architect, Isla focused on designing spaces that nurtured connection and inner peace, rather than seeking the spotlight. Her work, while understated, left a lasting impact on communities, offering quiet places of refuge in a busy world. For Isla, success wasn’t measured by awards, but by knowing she had made a difference without needing to be seen.

Today when I was running my 6km race I sprained my ankle but still decided to keep going even though my team was telling me I didn't have to, i felt like I still had to as it is something that is very important to me as I have always been a runner and was determined to finish my race as if I didn't I don't think i would have had the self-motivation to run my next race which is quite a bit more important. not finishing the race today i would have felt as if i was unable to complete the next one. with this, i pushed myself and had enough motivation to continue and finish my race, but i feel like if my team didn't say i was allowed to stop i would have probably stopped as them saying thst gave me more motivation to finish just so they know im tougher then i look.

In my art class last year, I was so excited to join the class because I thought I had finally found the chance to be really creative & express my creativity. That was my own intrinsic motivation , I was looking forward to finally getting the opportunity to create something that is unique or personal. But when i started the class, I realized that the teacher always made us follow instructions that limited what I could make in the class, so I had no choice but to follow her instructions in order to get good grades, which is how I got my extrinsic motivation. I started doing exactly what she asked & all just to avoid getting a bad grade, not because I willingly wanted to but because I felt like that’s what she wanted me to do.

For a little bit, I thought of school as a small obstacle I could bypass so I'd go to the library when my mom was coming on lunch break and then go back once she left and find sneaky ways to prevent the school from contacting her. Eventually, I thought about how it'd impact me in the future as how I'd go to college or uni without knowing any of the material to waste money, burn up student scholarships and put myself in debt. So, I started to go back slowly like going for at least 2 whole days then eventually within 1/2 months I was back a full week or then the occasional half day or 2 due to laziness or a boring low work day

When volunteering, I like being able to help other people in the community and seeing the smile and joy on their faces. I also do this so I can gain volunteer hours and a lot of experience for future jobs because I can gain valuable skills that can be carried out throughout my whole life. One of those skills is talking to strangers or others without making it awkward or uncomfortable. This has helped me get out of my comfort zone more and more. I started volunteering more for experience then hours as time went on.

As a kid I hated doing readings for class. Whether it was a small paragraph for homework, or a whole novel for a book report, I could not find it enjoyable no matter what. However, once I picked up a book from of genre that interests me, I could not put it down. I was so entertained, and ever since, reading became a great passion of mine. I read all genres, from sci-fi to non-fiction, because I enjoy learning about all types of things. Reading does not give me any rewards, but I continue doing it anyways because I find it amusing and entertaining. I do it for the feeling it brings, rather than anything tangible I stand to gain.

Two years ago, I faced major health issues that left me bedridden and forced me to quit all the sports I loved. I struggled with countless obstacles just to get back to a normal routine. However in grade 11, everything started to change when I discovered the power of motivation. Listening to podcasts and motivational speakers helped me realize the importance of discipline and inspired me to take control of my life. Their words gave me the strength to push through the challenges I faced and reignite my passion for growth. I began to feel the happiness that came from finishing assignments on time and rebuilding my confidence. Motivated and determined. I decided to rejoin my basketball team and I did. Now, I consistently go to the gym, prioritizing my health, self-care, and goals. I used to lack discipline and consistency, but motivation has transformed me into someone who is committed to working hard and achieving my dreams.

When told to do a task I would wonder, why do I need to do this? So I came to a self-realization that I dislike the busy work teacher will give. The pointless assignment is tiring as it will be weighted less than 1% of the final grade. Marked only for completion not for supplementing learning in class. Most of the time the teacher will not hand it back until months later. So I just chose no to do most of the time because the only thing I get is 0.5% increase and 30 minutes of stress. In My opinion, the cons weigh out the pros, but if the scale tipped more to the pros I would do it. For example, being able to use the worksheet to help study for a test or quiz.
