Peisistratus was considered a trytant which is a ruler who use power through force. today a trytant means harsh or mean but back then it meant something else.  "Athenian tyrants were usally good leaders." (Textbook 247) Peisistratus brought peace and prospertity to the city, he built temples and monuments. He even created new feastivls for the city. He believed that being in the government was just as important as an army defending the city. He engouraged people to join the government.
