1. Celestine from Flawed narrates in a way that makes you stop and think about what she is saying. She, before being taken away, judged those who were flawed without really knowing them. This gives the reader a hint that she may not be as believable as she tries to make her audience think.
2. The suspense given to the audience at the beginning of Flawed captures their attention. It gives a sneak peak of what the major plot is about, while still keeping the major details of it hidden.
3. The author used the suspense at the beginning of the novel to turn Celestine from just a character, to a real person who reacts to the said suspense. The events that take place give the reader an idea of who Celestine is.
4. The setting peaks my interest because how is resembles our world, but also how it doesn't resemble our world. It gives perspective on how easy our world could become like how it is in the book.
5. The writer uses language that makes me think about the various outcomes of what is going to happen. From how each character reacts to a certain situation to how each scenario plays out, the way Ahern writes her novel keeps her readers thinking and investigating.

1. I think that the narrator of the text isn't very believable because she tries to create a perfect image of herself which most likely isn't true because nobody can be perfect.
2. The author started the book with suspense to grab the reader's attention. This suspense gives the reader an idea of what the book will be like, which is called foreshadowing.
3. The author took a "flat character" who is Celestine and by putting her in real life situations that the reader could relate and react to.
4. The setting peaked my interest because it transforms the idea of our world and our society into a simpler version
5. The author uses dialogue between the characters that makes me "stop and investigate" because it makes me curious how each scenario affects the next.

Celestine is not only changed as the central character, but you can be impacted by the change because Celestine is changing as a person when she could be marked as "Flawed".
2) The author uses sensory details to create images of what the characters look like, and what the society of perfection can be perceived as.
4) I am not particularly fond of the book so I do not like enjoy the pace of the book. I would enjoy the story more if there were less chapters.

1. At the beginning of the book Celestine was "perfect" and thought low of the Flawed and high of the Guild, but as the book develops we see a change in her character. She begins to understand both sides of society, flawed and unflawed, and as a result our view of both sides begins to change too.
2. The author uses sensory detail to create images about the setting or situation. Without the description of how the holding cell made Celestine feel the audience wouldn't have gotten a feel for what her situation would play out.
4. The pace of the text is very quick, in a matter of short chapter Celestine went from a perfect civilian in society to imprisoned and facing jail time. It keeps the reader holding on and reading because of how easy it could happen to any of us. The fact that Celestine started out as an ordinary person and ended up in jail captured the attention of the audience.

Due to the way society changes people, the main character Celestine changes from this "perfect" but she develops an understanding for both sides of society, flawed and unflawed which changes her.
2. The author uses sensory detail very effectively because it helps the reader paint a picture in their head.
4. The pace of the text is fast but I like this and I like the variety in chapter length. Big events happen in short time which can catch the reader off guard but it helps me stay focused.

The author wants the readers to know that we all have flaws, but when everyone's flaws are out in the open it makes everyone more accepting.

Events like getting a sixth brand on her spine scarred her and left readers wondering what effect it will have later on in the plot. I personally are still wondering how Celestine will use this against Judge Crevan, or if she will at all.
4) The author introduces moments in the book that reveal large parts of a certain dilemma. Celestine learns that Judge Crevan, who she had grown up around and looked up to as a role model is not as kind and loving as he lets on. After realizing this everything for Celestine's trial goes downhill, from being sentenced with five brands by Crevan to being given a

From having rotten food thrown at her to being given looks of disgust, her struggles seem to meet no end and how Ahern writes these scenes add so much more to the text. Her choice of words gives the audience an idea of what Celestine's world is like. Even if we can't or don't want relate to how she feels throughout the text, the imagery and choice of words adds emotion that is undeniable to the audience.
