Children engaged in building the blocks. I used this activity as a learning opportunity to guide them how to solve their own problem. At first, the boy did not want to share toy with the girl. He wanted to build the tower alone by himself. However, the girl wanted to help the boy and wanted to play with the block at the same time. They started to cry. I asked them "What happened?" and let they both explained. I told the girl that, "Your friend is building a tower and you can build your tower after he done". She told me that, "I want to help him". Then, I told the her, "You can tell Lincoln that you want to help him to build a tower. You can ask him if you want to join him". I assisted the girl to express her thinking with the boy by modelling the sentence for her. The boy told me, "She can help me after I done with my tower. We can build another one". The girl agreed to wait until the boy finished. Then, the boy said to the girl, "Isla, come! I need your help to build a new tower".

What I have learned from the artifacts?

Based on the artifact that I have chosen in guiding children who fighting over toys. In the preschool room, there were so many fighting problems that happened during my two weeks of the field placement. These were a chance for me to apply my knowledge of what I have learned from guidance course into the concrete experience. I solved a lot of problems and incidents that happened in the room such as fighting over toys, pushing, inappropriate behaviours by using guidance strategies such as "I" message, active listening, setting limit, and so on. It assists me to become more understanding of children behaviours and know when is the best time to apply guidance strategies, and choose appropriate strategies to apply into the problems.
