How do you feel after learning about kids, just like you, living with diabetes? Does this disease make these kids stronger? What would you say to a friend who was diagnosed with diabetes?

I learned what diabetes is, and now that I know what it is I feel like I can help, we are all very lucky to not have diabetes. This disease makes life one step harder for kids who have diabetes. Before I learned about this disease I felt like this wasn't a big deal, but know that I know I can take this more seriously and try to help people. My grandmas sister has diabetes and I felt like it was normal, but you never get to go behind the scenes of people's lives and find out about them. Kids who have diabetes feel like life is normal. For them life isn't normal, and if you got diabetes you would think it's normal too.

I feel like people diabetes have ti harder that what kids with out diabetes. Kids with out diabetes can just pick up and eat what ever food whenever they want. But kids that do have diabetes have to moniter there food and take shots and carry all there tools with them were ever they go. I would be there for someone with diabetes take 10 seconds to help them take there shots and moniter the food they ate. I feel so lucky to not worry about the food I eat to just go right ahead and eat it without a care in the world or as others they have to care write down how many carbs in there meals. People that where diagnosed with diabetes should feel stronger they are living with a desis but it it does not meen they can't do anything. If they have hope I think they will be cured momenterraly.

I feel so lucky that I don`t have diabetes. My friend Dakota has type 2 diabetes. I never knew what it meant, but now I do. I believe he 8 years old. It is great that I don`t have it. I believe that it helps children in some ways. You know how blind people have better hearing, or smell, or taste. Kids with diabetes feel responsible about their body. It is a great way to stay fit in food. What I say to my friend Dakota all the time is that he should keep on believing in finding a cur. Also, keep your body's blood sugar at a minimal. The reason is that this may help you in future and in now. It is great that when you have diabetes, you can survive, and enjoy life like any other kid. So good luck to all kids with diabetes. I hope there will be a cure to stop blood sugar right away.

Thanks
Adam

I feel like there are some positives to diabetes, because you are healthier than other kids in some sort of ways. For example they get more exercise, and take care of their body more. This makes me think a lot about how I should take care of myself. Especially since yesterday was halloween, I need to think about how much sugar I eat. I feel really lucky that I don't have diabetes. At first, I knew what it was, but I didn't really care. I think all you have to do to not get diabetes is just to take care of yourself and what you eat. Unless you have Type 1 diabetes. I really like the idea of donating money to the ummmmmm place. You shouldn't be scared of getting diabetes because if you don't want to get it, then just take care of your body. On the other hand Type 1 diabetes, I feel like is more common than type 2. At first I thought getting type 1 would be more scary. When I watched the video about the girl with Type 1, I thought maybe it's not as bad as I think it is. After I read the textbook and saw the video I realized some things I hadn't realized before. For example pricking your finger 4 to 6 times a day, and measuring your blood sugar. I feel like that makes your life a lot more complicated, even though it's not. I am so so so glad I don't have diabetes and hope that I never will. I wish the people that do have it will stay safe, and take care of themselves.

I feel like I really should be appreciating life more. I mean, it's lucky that I don't have diabetes but what about those other kids that do have it? They still manage to live life just like me except they have to try ten times harder. It almost makes me feel like I don't deserve to live a normal life like them. I wish people could know more about this condition and we could do something to help cure diabetes or at least help kids who are having trouble with their condition.
I think this disease actually does make these kids stronger because they have to really fight for life, to fight to live. But really, I think it depends on how these kids deal with their condition. They have to fight it, not let it consume them.

However seeing kids who have diabetes treat with a smile on their faces it makes me feel alot better.

I think kids with diabetes are stronger because I want so many things and I can have them. These kids can even eat more than 15 grams of sugar at a time. So if they do get cured they will be used to not having to much sugar and then be healthier than me or anyone else.

If My friend was diagnosed with diabetes, I would tell them to be strong, and take care of themselves. some ways to take of yourself is : exercise, take your shots, eat well, and always be on a schedule.

The kids with diabetes are so brave. I learned that diabetes is when your pancreas is not making enough insulin. I feel like we should really be more aware of what we eat (especially because Halloween was yesterday). I would donate about 1000 dollars if I had 1000 dollars. I bet a lot of people feel lucky they do not have diabetes and a lot of people feel bad that many people have this condition. I used to think that diabetes could be cured with just one small shot, but as it turns out, diabetes could be a life worth or a decade's worth of diabetes. Having diabetes as I imagine is tiring. For example, looking at how many carbohydrate every time you eat something. Living with diabetes is probably hard having multiple more steps to get ready for the day. Seeing how kids live with diabetes makes me think about how I would react if I had diabetes and how people would treat kids with diabetes. Maybe they would be teased by other kids because they don't know how it is living with this condition. Could be hard living with diabetes, or maybe it is not a big deal.

I feel really bad for the kids diagnosed with diabetes, and I hope that they get cured! I want to help them but I am not sure how to. I like the idea of donating money for research though! I think it is amazing how these kids learn to live with diabetes, so in a way I think it does make them stronger. I am not sure what I would say to a friend with diabetes because I don't want to make them feel uncomfortable. I would probably ask them what its like having diabetes. What I definitely wouldn't say is tell them that there weird or that Im better because I don't have it. I also wouldn't ask what it would be like if they didn't have it, because it might make them uncomfortable. I think I am going to appreciate my food more now because I have the luxury of eating whatever I want, and I thought that I was unlucky because I was lactose intolerant, but these kids are way unluckier. I know someone who got diabetes when they were around 13 and I didn't know that they had to go through all of this! I did see a machine piece on her arm and I wondered what it was. I am still not completely sure because it might not be what we learned about.
